Sesame Street's Master of Harmonica 'Toots' Thielemans Has Died

Master of the jazz harmonica, Jean-Baptiste "Toots" Thielemans, has died at 94. Though his name my sound not be familiar, the sounds he laid down for Sesame Street's theme song surely are.

Over his illustrious career Toots performed with legends such as Ella Fitzgerald, Benny Goodman, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie,
Paul Simon, Billy Joel, and Quincy Jones, who once called Mr. Thielemans “one of the greatest musicians of our time.”

He can be heard on the soundtracks of movies like “Midnight Cowboy” and “The Getaway.”
But his most lasting contribution for Muppet fans is that
his riffs have been heard in the opening theme music of Sesame Street for more than four decades!
