Funko Pop! Labyrinth!

As if there was any doubt, it's now officially official.... Labyrinth Pop! figures are on the way!

The announcement and images came from Funko with the following message:

Be careful what you wish for!

Jareth, the Goblin King, is no slouch

when it comes to granting wishes!

Sarah must rely on Worm and the dwarvish Hoggle for

help to solve the Labyrinth and save her brother!

The playful beast, Ludo, is coming as a super-sized 6" Pop!

I'm sure they'll be more characters and variants announced soon! 

In the meantime, look for these to hit shelves in September!

Labyrinth's 30th Anniversary!

30 years ago today, the world first entered the word of Labyrinth. I remember exactly where I saw it (it's now a Walgreens - natch) and it was the 2nd, possibly third (Follow that Bird, and Muppets Take Manhattan being other two) Henson film I had the pleasure of seeing in a theater!

In celebration of today's anniversary, River Horse has unveiled a sneak peak at the final lineup of Goblins in the expansion pack (sold separately) to their upcoming Labyrinth board game!

While not an initial box office success, it's great that so many people have found the film since. 

Personally, though I loved it from the start. My birthday cake that year even featured my favorite character from the film!

Sony Pictures Animation Announces Nativity Movie With Henson Company!

Sony Pictures Animation has announced its upcoming film slate through 2018. 

Among the upcoming films announced by president Kristine Belson are a new Smurf movie, Hotel Transylvania 3, an animated Spider-Man film, a film based on the lives of Emoji's, and a Nativity movie - The Star, from The Jim Henson Company.

The Star – a small but brave donkey and his animal friends become the unsung heroes of the greatest story ever told, the first Christmas. 

The Star (working title). The computer-animated feature is directed by Oscar nominee Timothy Reckart (Head Over Heels); executive produced by DeVon Franklin, Lisa Henson, and Brian Henson; co-produced by Jenni Magee Cook; and written by Carlos Kotkin and Simon Moore. 

Sony Pictures Animation in association with The Jim Henson Company, scheduled for a December 8, 2017 theatrical release. 

Henson Company Secures Multiple Licensees For Labyrinth's 30th!

As you may already know, this year marks the 30th anniversary of Labyrinth. 

We've already talked about many of the products on the way to help celebrate the milestone, yet the official news broke yesterday that The Jim Henson Company has made even more deals with licensing partners for new apparel and figurines to commemorate the film!

Apparel partners include:

• Trademark Products in the U.K. 
• Truffle Shuffle for apparel, ceramics, bags and prints in the U.K.
• Zen Monkey Studios in the U.S. 

• Funko signed on to create stylized figures  

      - Which means the Labyrinth Pop! rumors floating around online can now be confirmed!  

      - And the possibility of Labyrinth ReAction figures as well!

Other new and already announced licensees include:

• River Horse for board games in the U.S., Canada and select territories within Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.

Dark Crystal Funko ReAction SDCC Exclusive!

With San Diego Comic Con approaching, Funko has started announcing their exclusives for the mega convention. 

Almost every year for the past decade, one company or another has released some sort of Jim Henson exclusive. This year in no different  - and it's as doozy!

Funko's announced yesterday that one of their many offerings will be a ReAction Dark Crystal Landstrider and Jen box set!

We don't have the full specs yet,  but by the looks of it this thing is gonna be pretty big!
We'll have more info as it becomes available. 

The Electric Mayhem Bus Ornament!

As we first reported back in October, this year's Hallmark Muppet Keepsake ornament is The Electric Mayhem Bus.

When the button on top is pushed, it will play part of Can You Picture That? from The Muppet Movie.

Up Late with Miss Piggy Mug Now Available!

The Muppets, the behind the scenes documentary of Up Late with Miss Piggy might have been cancelled by ABC, but that doesn't mean you still can't pretend your Piggy's latest guest – or even the hostess herself with Diamond Select Toy's new Up Late with Miss Piggy mug!

The mug retails for $15.99 and comes in a full-color window box for displaying. If you do use it for your favorite hot beverage, it's recommend that you hand-wash only.

Muppet Tsum Tsum Coming Soon!

It seems that even though their ABC show was cancelled, Disney believes The Muppets will be a hit with Tsum Tsum collectors. 

Images surfaced today on the official Tsum Tsum page of Miss Piggy the first, in what we're sure to be an impressive set of characters.

Julie Andrews Joins Henson Company for New Netflix Kids' Show!

The legendary Julie Andrews is once again working with the Jim Henson Company, this time on a new kid's series for Netflix.

Coming in 2017, Julie’s Greenroom will star Andrews as Ms Julie, the director of the Wellspring Centre for the Performing Arts where she oversees a cast of puppet children as they create a show and learn about disciplines ranging from dance to mime, circus acts to singing and acting. She's helped in the “greenroom” by her assistant Gus, played by Giullian Gioiello.

Guest stars announced include Carol Burnett, Josh Groban, Alec Baldwin, Tituss Burgess, Sara Bareilles, Joshua Bell, Chris Colfer, Robert Fairchild, David Hyde Pierce, Idina Menzel, Bill Irwin, and Ellie Kemper.

Andrews created the series with her daughter, Emma Walton Hamilton, and Judy Rothman-Rofe. In recent years Andrews, Hamilton and Rothman-Rofe have also penned a series of children’s books.

The diverse cast of puppets are called the “Greenies,” and have been created by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.

Aimed at pre-school children, Julie’s Greenroom aims to rekindle some of the magic from from shows such as Fame and The Muppet Show.

Andrews said she has always wanted to make a show about all the elements of the performing arts.

“This project represents the fulfilment of a long held dream to educate children about the wonder of the arts. I am thrilled to be partnering with my daughter and long time coauthor, Emma, to bring this show to life along with our co-creator, Judy Rothman-Rofė. We could not be more honoured to be working with the extraordinary Jim Henson Company. We are equally delighted to be premiering as a Netflix original production.”

“This show is all about awakening children’s interest in the performing arts while introducing a new era of puppets to the viewers,” said Netflix director of global kids content Andy Yeatman. “It’s been an incredible treat to work with Julie on this project.”

“The best of the best have joined together to bring Julie’s Greenroom to Netflix,” said Lisa Henson, chief executive of the Jim Henson Company. “Our award-winning director, Tony-nominated puppeteers, Broadway composer, and accomplished guest artists, led by the incomparable Julie Andrews, together will inspire kids to explore, appreciate and celebrate all forms of performing arts.”

“The best of the best have joined together to bring ‘Julie’s Greenroom’ to Netflix,” said Henson Co. CEO Lisa Henson.

Andrews, Hamilton and Lisa Henson are exec producers with and Steve Sauer and Halle Stanford. Joey Mazzarino is co-producer and director, Tom Keniston is producer. Bill Sherman will serve as the series’ composer.

Thanks to our friend Craig Shemin, we know that behind the scenes and under the the cast are many other Henson veterans including his wife Stephanie D'Abruzzo, John Tartaglia, Jennifer Barnhart, Tyler Bunch, Frankie Cordero, John Kennedy, Dorien Davies, Kenny Stevenson, Paul McGinnis, Halle Stanford, Stacey Weingarten, Tom Guad, Rollie Krewson, Alexandra Rockwell, and Robin C. Both.

Julie’s Greenroom will air it first 13 episodes worldwide on Netflix in early 2017. 

Muppets Minimates Series 2!

Diamond Select Toys has officially announced the second wave of in their Muppets Minimates line, and it's structured a little different than the first. 

The line up of characters available at comic shops and specialty stores includes:

Dr. Teeth with Animal

Statler & Waldorf

Crazy Harry with Mahna Mahna

These should be avialble at your local comic shop and Barnes and Noble soon. To find your nearest comic shop try comicshoplocator.com!

Toys R Us locations, however will get a different assortment including their own exclusive Pigs in Space characters.
