Diamond Select released these first shots today of series 4 in their Muppet action figure line.

Dr. Teeth and Zoot will be packed together and almost complete The Electric Mayhem. We still need Lips!

Sam looks a little angrier then his Palisades version. Maybe that's because he's packed with Rizzo.

While He doesn't have a full kitchen playset yet, Diamond's Swedish Chef will come with plenty of kitchen/other random accessories, and a chicken!

Series 3 is hitting stores next week. We're not sure yet when to expect thes, but something tells me around mid summer.

This year we focus our attention to Gonzo & Camilla. They were released together along with a heart shaped box of chocolates by Palisades in 2003.
Camilla's been Gonzo's main squeeze, save for a couple of other feathered friends along the way...

I have faith they'll keep it clean this year, but if not, there's always the laundry!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Park Series Waldo Vinylmation!

Disney Parks, as part of their Vinylmation "Park Series" has a new Waldo C. Graphic figure!

As you can see, unlike the regular Vinylmation line, Park Series figures are not beholden to the Mickey Mouse shape.

This Waldo has some great fluidity, my only complaint is that his nose is just painted on. For the "spirit of 3D" his face looks rather flat.
Luckily he's not the more rare "chaser" as he was in the Muppet line, but these are blind boxed, like regular Vinylmation.

So please note, while you can order Park Series 5 figures from Disney.com, you're not guaranteed to get Waldo. Unless you're feeling lucky the only way to ensure you get one may be trading or ebay.

Thanks to Nate Downs and Brian Sullivan for the heads up.

Help Fund Toys That Time Forgot!

Another Muppet related crowdsourcing project is looking for funding.

This time it's "Toys That Time Forgot" a (hopefully) upcoming book by Blake Wright that looks at unproduced toy lines.

The book would be a "first-of-its-kind art book highlighting a series of "lost" toy projects, mainly action figures, spanning three-plus decades."
Written and compiled by journalist Blake Wright, the 200-plus page hard cover book will take an in-depth look at over 20 instances of toy lines that suffered these type of fates. Stories are supplemented with supporting photographs of the production process, existing prototypes, control drawings used to create the sculpts, concept sketches and more. The stories (and supplemental materials) have come straight from the men and women that lived them — from inventors and sculptors to project managers and toy company executives.
The book's foreword will be written by Jordan Hembrough (aka The Toy Hunter), owner of Hollywood Heroes and vintage toy guru for over a quarter century.

Two unproduced Muppet lines are featured are Hasbro's original 1982 Dark Crystal and Palisade's 2005 Sesame Street action figures.

Tim Clarke who worked on both The Dark Crystal and the unproduced toy line will share his stories working on the toys in the book.

Some of the perks can bee seen below included a print of an original charcoal for Hasbro's unproduced Skesis figure, and a lithograph of Alex Ross' Wizard World exclusive Super Grover (Update: gone).

According to their kickstarter page, the book is 95% complete and the funds will be used for printing.

If you'd like to see the stories behind these unproduced toys see the light of day consider contributin

One-Hour Dinosaur Train Special Coming Soon!

The Jim Henson Company's Preschool series Dinosaur Train will premiere an all-new one-hour special, “What’s at the Center of the Earth?,” Monday, February 20 on PBS KIds.

From PBS:

“With this new DINOSAUR TRAIN special, we are excited to give families another opportunity to engage with their favorite characters and learn about nature and science,” said Lesli Rotenberg, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Children’s Media and Education, PBS. “By delivering educational programming through our member stations and their newly launched PBS KIDS 24/7 channel and live stream, we look forward to continuing to serve America’s children anytime and anywhere.”
In “What’s at the Center of the Earth?,” the Conductor has a special surprise for the Pteranodon Family: the Dinosaur Drill Train. This amazing machine gives its passengers a front row seat as they dig deep underground on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure below the Earth’s surface. There, they discover a whole new world – from fossils and troglobites to rivers of lava. Along the way, the family gains a new perspective on our planet and what it’s made of.
“What’s at the Center of the Earth?” –  including the following stories:
“What’s at the Center of the Earth?” – Layers!
The Conductor takes the Pteranodon family on a very special journey on a new invention – the Drill Train – in search of the perfect spot for a new underground Dinosaur Train station! Don is THRILLED to be venturing into the BIGGEST HOLE THE EARTH HAS EVER KNOWN! Shiny is nervous to be underground, until they meet a new friend (a Mesozoic mole named Natasha Necrolestes), who teaches them all about the different layers of the Earth.
“What’s at the Center of the Earth?” – Fossils!
As the Pteranodon family continues their journey underground, Don accidentally breaks Buddy’s trilobite fossil (the oldest fossil in his collection)! When the search for another trilobite fossil turns up empty, their new friend Natasha Necrolestes takes them to Fossil Alley, where the kids learn that the older the fossil, the deeper underground it is.
“What’s at the Center of the Earth?” – Troglobites!
The Drill Train burrows into an underground limestone cave, where the Pteranodon family meets some strange eyeless creatures called “troglobites.” In a contest to see who would make the best troglobite, Buddy, Tiny, Shiny and Don participate in a treasure hunt – with their eyes closed! The kids have to rely on their other senses (with some guidance from the actual troglobites) to navigate the cave and find the prize.
“What’s at the Center of the Earth?” – Minerals!
While digging even further underground, the drill bit on the Drill Train breaks. The Pterandons find themselves in the Cave of Giant Crystals, where they learn all about rocks and crystals (what they are, how they’re different, how they form). In order to get back home, the Pteranodon family has to fix the drill bit by finding a mineral harder than the mineral that broke the bit in the first place.
Following its premiere, “What’s at the Center of the Earth?” will repeat throughout February on PBS stations and the PBS KIDS 24/7 channel and live stream. It will also be available for free on both pbskids.org and the PBS KIDS Video App, which is accessible on a variety of mobile devices and platforms such as Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Xbox One and Chromecast. In addition, “What’s at the Center at the Earth?” and four additional DINOSAUR TRAIN stories will be available on DVD from PBS Distribution on Tuesday, February 21.
New digital content from DINOSAUR TRAIN will include “Fossil Finder,” a game that encourages kids to travel underground in the Drill Train to search for fossils. The game will be available the week of February 13th on pbskids.org and on the free PBS KIDS Games app.

Get Your First Look at Jim Henson’s Dark Crystal Tales!

It seems that Archaia, along with their serialized sequel comic "Power of the Dark Crystal", will also release a children's book entitled Jim Henson’s Dark Crystal Tales.

It's no coincidence that the name may remind you of last fall's Jim Henson’s Labyrinth Tales. Writer and artist Cory Godbey, who also wrote and illustrated Labyrinth Tales will now take on stories inside The Dark Crystal's land of Thra.

According to Nerdist, one tale is about "when a little bird gets hurt in a Skeksis net, Jen takes it to the Mystics for healing and learns how “every act of kindness grows like ripples in a lake.”

Below is a spread from the short story “Fizzgig’s Mighty Quest.”

The 48 page, full color hardcover, graphic novel will be released in comic shops
July 26 and August 1 in bookstores.
