Christoph Waltz & Guy Pearce To Star In Jim Henson Company's ‘The Portable Door'!

The Jim Henson Company announced they're working on a new family friendly feature titled The Portable Door.

Christoph Waltz, Guy Pearce, and Patrick Gibson are attached to star in comedy-fantasy based on the book of the same name by Tom Holt.

The Portable Door finds a young man landing a job at a magical firm, only to find that its leaders are hiding darker motives.

Lisa Henson and Blanca Lista from The Jim Henson Company and Todd Fellman from Story Bridge Films are producing.

Jeffrey Walker is set to direct with shooting planned for later this year.

The Regal Eagle Smokehouse Opens and Exclusive Merchandise Revealed!

We first told you about Sam Eagle's new EPCOT restaurant The Regal Eagle Smokehouse: Craft Drafts & Barbecue last month, and now it's officially open!

Regal Eagle Smokehouse: Craft Drafts & Barbecue, the new fast-casual restaurant opening its winter at the American Adventure in EPCOT, will serve classic American backyard barbecue and home-style craft brews. The restaurant takes its name from Same Eagle; t beloved Muppet will host a centennial cook-off – a salute to all cook-offs… but mostly barbecue.

Walt Disney World News Today was one of the first inside and spotted all the great Muppet adornments.

The walls have subtle nods to the Muppets. If you look closely you can see a drawing of Janice,

and that Bobo has been named "pit master."

Seeing that it's his restaurant, Sam Eagle is featured prominently throughout,

he even has his own ketchup!

Like Hollywood Studio's PizzeRizzo, Regal Eagle Smokehouse has a hand held meu:

Unlike PizzeRizzo, though Regal Eagle Smokehouse has exclusive souvenir merchandise!

So far there's a Regal Eagle Smokehouse t-shirt, 

with the Regal Eagle Smokehouse logo on the sleeve.

As well as a Regal Eagle Smokehouse glass tumbler with BBQ buzzwords:

Coming Soon: The Dark Crystal: Book of Opposites!

The Dark Crystal: Book of Opposites, a new book about about opposites in the land of Thra is coming this fall.

While the cover art has yet to be relieved, we do have some insight about the book itself from the official synopsis:

Learn about opposites like light and dark in this engaging interactive board book inspired by Jim Henson’s classic film The Dark Crystal!
In the age of wonder, Jen, Kira, and their adorable companion Fizzgig must heal the Dark Crystal to bring balance to the world of Thra.

This colorfully illustrated board book will guide children to help Jen and his friends learn about opposites by pointing out the differences between the kind Gelflings and the evil Skeksis.

Concepts like fast and slow, light and dark, big and small will be revealed through touch and feel elements. Jim Henson fans young and old will delight in this engaging board book that teaches real world observational skills while engaging with the fantastical world of Thra.

The Dark Crystal: Book of Opposites will be illustrated by Bill Robinson who previously depicted the land of Thra in The Dark Crystal Little Golden Book.

The Dark Crystal: Book of Opposites will be released October 20, 2020 by Insight Kids and can be pre-ordered through Amazon. 

Thrifting at Joys & Toys with Cinema Sickness!

We teamed up with Cinema Sickness for a trip to one of my favorite stores - Joys and Toys in Hatboro, PA.

First Look: The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance #6!

BOOM! Studios revealed a first look at the new story arc in The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance #6.

Issue #6 features a main cover by illustrator Mona Finden, a variant connecting cover by artists Kelly and Nichole Matthews, and an additional variant cover by David Peterson.

Podling cook Hup has joined the famous Paladin Barfinnious as a squire and set out from his small village for the first time! It seems that Hup’s dreams of becoming a Paladin himself are finally within reach. But when Barfinnious is more focused on making some quick coin than on performing acts of bravery, Hup realizes that his trust may have been misplaced.
