Coming Soon Muppet Clue!

Last week we got a sneak peek at the box for Muppet Clue and now we have a look the inside the game as well.

Join Muppets Kermit (Mayor Green), Fozzie (Colonel Mustard), and more as they put on a Murder Mystery Show in Clue The Muppets! Explore the Muppet Theater and track down Clues leading to classic Muppet props to figure out WHO did it, WHERE it happened, and WHAT weapon was used!

 

It might be temp art, but it's interesting that the game uses illustrations of the characters instead of photographs. 

The weapons haven't been revealed yet, but the player pieces and game board have. 

The whole game takes place inside the Muppet Theater and is a fairly accurate representation of how it looked on The Muppet Show.  

Great to to see some license was taken to include the music studio and Muppet Labs. Also great to see the canteen, which was only seen on the show during season 3. 

The game includes:

• 6 Suspect ‘Clue’ cards

Hasbro's HasLab's is looking to crowdfund a life-size Cookie Monster photo puppet replica.

You can own 38 inches of blue furry goodness by spring of 2020. Your payment method will be charged on August 25, 2019 if the campaign is successful.

SCULPT

In order to make an authentic replica, Hasbro product designers took measurements of the actual photorealistic Cookie Monster puppet used for Sesame Street’s still shots to create and build the skeleton. Scale, height, posture, and positioning had to be just right.

PERFECT PLUSH:

Product designer Teresa Levy paid special attention to Cookie Monster’s fur color and texture when meeting with Cookie Monster and the Sesame Street team. A swatch was sent to Hasbro’s factory to replicate the dyes and tumbling of the plush. Can you find the swatch of the real Cookie Monster plush within ours?

A full-size, fully poseable final model includes articulation in the hips so Cookie Monster can sit and stand, bendy wire in the hands and fingers, hinged mouth that opens and closes, and a ball joint that allows neck to move and pivot.

Hasbro Launches New Julia Mini Plush!

April is Autism Awareness Month. If you follow our facebook page, you may have noticed we shared a story yesterday about how Sesame Place became the first theme park ever to be designated as Certified Autism Center.

Well today as part of Autism Awareness Month, Hasbro announced they are offering a new Julia, the first autistic Muppet, as a mini plush. 

You may recall that the first Julia plush was offered as a limited edition. It was then released as part of the regular Sesame plush line. 


The Julia mini plush retails for US$7.99 and is available now at retailers across the US and Canada, as well as through HasbroToyShop.com.

Help Fund Toys That Time Forgot!

Another Muppet related crowdsourcing project is looking for funding.

This time it's "Toys That Time Forgot" a (hopefully) upcoming book by Blake Wright that looks at unproduced toy lines.

The book would be a "first-of-its-kind art book highlighting a series of "lost" toy projects, mainly action figures, spanning three-plus decades."

Written and compiled by journalist Blake Wright, the 200-plus page hard cover book will take an in-depth look at over 20 instances of toy lines that suffered these type of fates. Stories are supplemented with supporting photographs of the production process, existing prototypes, control drawings used to create the sculpts, concept sketches and more. The stories (and supplemental materials) have come straight from the men and women that lived them — from inventors and sculptors to project managers and toy company executives.

The book's foreword will be written by Jordan Hembrough (aka The Toy Hunter), owner of Hollywood Heroes and vintage toy guru for over a quarter century.

Two unproduced Muppet lines are featured are Hasbro's original 1982 Dark Crystal and Palisade's 2005 Sesame Street action figures. 

Tim Clarke who worked on both The Dark Crystal and the unproduced toy line will share his stories working on the toys in the book. 

Some of the perks can bee seen below included a print of an original charcoal for Hasbro's unproduced Skesis figure, and a lithograph of Alex Ross' Wizard World exclusive Super Grover (Update: gone).  

According to their kickstarter page, the book is 95% complete and the funds will be used for printing.
