The Muppet Show Special Earns 6 Primetime Emmy Nominations!

The Muppet Show special earned six Primetime Emmy Award nominations.

The special received nominations in the following categories:

• Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded)
• Outstanding Production Design For A Variety Special
• Outstanding Picture Editing For Variety Programming
• Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance – Matt Vogel as Kermit the Frog
• Outstanding Writing For A Variety Special
• Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Variety Series Or Special 

The 78th Emmy Awards ceremony will be aired Monday, September 14, 2026 on NBC.

RIP James Frawley (1936 - 2019)

James Frawley, director of The Muppet Movie has died. 

Frawley began his career by appearing on I Spy, Hogan's Heroes, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., The Monkees, My Favorite Martian, McHale's Navy, The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Outer Limits

He later directed episodes of The Monkees, for which he won the 1967 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series for the episode "Royal Flush." He was nominated for the same award the following year for another Monkees episode, "The Devil and Peter Tork."

While he is best known to Muppet fans for directing The Muppet Movie he also directed
episodes of That Girl, Columbo, Cagney & Lacey, Scarecrow and Mrs. King, Magnum, P.I., Father Dowling Mysteries, Law & Order, Picket Fences, Chicago Hope, Smallville,
Judging Amy, Grey's Anatomy, and Private Practice.

When studios were weary of putting up funds for a Muppet film, Frawley shot the test footage below to prove Muppets could work in the real world. 

James Frawley makes a cameo in The Muppet Movie severing frog legs in the El Sleezo Cafe.

Sesame Street Wins Primetime Emmy!

The prime time Emmy awards aired Sunday, but you wouldn't know Sesame Street won a statuette by watching it.

That's because Outstanding Children's Program, the category they were nominated in, is part of the Creative Arts Emmy awards ceremony that takes place a week before the live prime time celebrity filled special. 

Sesame latest addition to it's massive trophy case is for it's latest holiday special Once Upon a Sesame Street Christmas.

They beat out Girl Meets World, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade 90th anniversary special, School of Rock, and Star Wars: Rebels.
