The Muppets may have a new ABC show, but that's not the only place they popped up on the alphabet network this week. Immediately following the latest episode of the show Tuesday, Fresh Off The Boat aired a Halloween episode that featured two Muppet costumes.
While the show takes place in the early nineties, neither of of these costumes is period accurate. Check out the scene below:
Fresh Off The Boat wasn't the only ABC show this week to feature a Muppet costume either. Wednesday night on The Goldberg's, a neighborhood kid dressed up as Kermit.
"Kermit" was seen a few times throughout the episode!
While also not period accurate, we'll cut the kid some slack- maybe his mom made it. Anyway it's always great to see random Muppet love! Happy Halloween!
With all the news about unauthorized costume characters in New York's Times Square, did you even wonder where those individuals got their outfits?
Many come from costume shops, such as mascot.costumes, who are selling many Muppet, Sesame, and Henson costume knockoffs along side a plethora of other famous characters through their ebay store. From Sesame Street they have:
Abby Caddaby
Bert
Big Bird
Cookie Monster
Elmo
Ernie
From The Muppet Show:
Animal
"Big Bear"
(Fozzie)
Gonzo
Kermit
"Boy"
(Scooter)
Swedish Chef
And from Sid the Science Kid we have:
"Scientific Boy"
(Sid the Science Kid)
As you can see, they've have various degrees of success translating the characters. And that last one, wow. It really must have taken them quite a long time to think up that name. I mean it's not like he's name is the title of the show he's from or anything.
Obviously there's extra irony in watermarking photos of bootleg merchandise while not even knowing all of the character's names they're ripping off. What do you think of these knock off muppets costumes?
