Throwback Thursday: 1966 Ideal Toy Catalog

In 1966 the Ideal corporation released the first licensed Muppet toys. This page is from their trade catalog from that year promoting their new Muppet line for toy shops to buy. 

The full ad shows Rowlf, Kermit and Snerf plush dolls and the packaging in which they would be sold. 

While Rowlf  and Kermit would go on to be huge stars, the Snerfs would be best remembered from their 1977 performance of " In a Little Spanish Town", from the Bruce Forsyth episode of The Muppet Show. 

According to the Muppet Wiki, "there's no evidence that the Snerf puppet was actually manufactured and sold."

Schweppes Australia use ‘marketing expert’ Jim Henson puppets to relaunch Cool Ridge

Schweppes Australia has used Jim Henson puppets for its latest campaign to relaunch spring water brand Cool Ridge.

Created by BMF Melbourne, the ad sees Wombat and his team of “dedicated marketing experts” tackling the creation of a new slogan for the brand.

Bo Jakubenko, brand manager for Cool Ridge at Schweppes Australia, said: “There was an opportunity to break category moulds for marketing water in Australia, and that’s exactly what we’ve done with the launch of the new Cool Ridge campaign.

“BMF and Dogboy have provided a fresh perspective on advertising what is traditionally viewed as a fairly mundane category.”

The ad features the voice talents of Melbourne hipster satirist The Bedroom Philosopher and Adam Zwar, star of the Australian comedy series Wilfred. The puppets have been created in conjunction with Jim Henson’s Creature Workshop.

Running across TV, outdoor, point-of-sale and social media, the campaign will expand later in the year to promote new flavoured and lightly sparkling products.

BOOM! to Release New Fraggle Rock Mini-Series!

Boom! Studios will release Fraggle Rock: Journey to the Everspring, a new mini-series by Kate Leth and Jake Myler.

Independence Day Videos!

The Muppets appeared on PBS' "A Capital Fourth" Friday night to celebrate America's 238th birthday.

Kermit and host Tom Bergeron were interviewed by Las Vegas Station KTNV Channel 13 Action News to help promote the show and Muppets Most Wanted on "DVDue."
