Stranger Things - Sesame Street Film Back on Track!

There have been rumours and tidbits of news floating around for years about a new Sesame Street feature film and looks like it's back on track again.

The latest Sesame film still doesn't yet have a title, but is being developed by Shawn Levy, one of the producers of the upcoming sci-fi film Arrival and Netflix's hit show Stranger Things!

In addition to producing, Levy is set to direct the film as well. He's directed family movies like the Night at the Museum trilogy, Cheaper by the Dozen, and the boxing robot flick, Real Steel. 

After previously being developed at Twentieth Century Fox, the film has now moved to Warner Bros.

Levy told Sceenrant:

“Sesame Street is at Warner Bros, and we are right now working on a treatment for what I think is going to be a really imnaginative and entertaining take on that beloved and decades old global brand. 

The trick there is to honor these characters that are beloved but in a movie that feels entertaining for the kids who we might bring to the movie but humorous on that second level for those parents who bring their kids. It’s early – we’re still at the treatment stage, but very bullish on that.”

Our last news about the project was in 2015 when Levy told The Tracking Board that the film "will be in the style of the more recent Muppets films."

Although a full creative team has not been announced according to Entertainment.ie,Mike Jones, who penned the English adaptations of The Wind Rises and The Tale of Princess Kaguya, and long-time Sesame Street writer Joey Mazzarino are working with Levy.

In 1980, she made her candidacy official in a Life Magazine cover story!

If the two main candidates don't do it for you, you can always vote green.

There's also a strange candidate on the ballot with a big nose. Gonzo of course!

Miss Piggy and Kate Spade Team Up for Holiday Collection!

Miss Piggy and fashion designer designer Kate Spade have teamed up to create a new holiday collection. 

Miss Piggy made the announcement herself earlier this week via twitter:

The high end collection is comprised of a sweater, wristlet, clutch, tote, wallet, iPhone cases, necklace, key chain, and stud earrings with prices ranging from $48 to $358.

In addition to appearing in the holiday ad campaign along with Jourdan Dunn and Catherine Baba (above), Piggy will also be the face of the brand’s “Miss Adventure” film, which will be released online in December. 

Miss Piggy sat down with fashion bog WWD for an interview about the line:

WWD: Why did you want to collaborate with Kate Spade?Miss Piggy: Moi was already a big fan of Kate Spade New York’s Miss Adventure’s series. I mean you see all these fabulous and incredibly strong and wonderful women like Anna Kendrick and Zosia Mamet having fun. So, I thought: I’m fabulous, incredibly strong and wonderful, I need to be part of this. When I discovered they wanted to create product inspired by moi: Well, it was a done deal. 

WWD: How much input did they give you in the collection’s design?M.P.: I worked very closely with Deborah Lloyd, Kate Spade New York’s chief creative officer. We had lots of midnight chats. (Hey, how did I know she was in a different time zone?) We both worked hard, but I did the inspiring and Deborah did the designing. (Strictly between us, inspiring is a lot easier than designing. Much better hours.) 

WWD: Who is the customer for your Disney Miss Piggy Collection by Kate Spade?M.P.: She is quick, curious, playful and strong…she is interesting and interested — just like moi!
WWD: What was it like on the set for the ad campaign?M.P.: It was so much fun! I adore Zosia — you know, I kept calling her Zsa Zsa, because I thought that was her name. She kept trying to correct me, but I thought she was sneezing. Hah! The fun we have on set! Or maybe you had to be there.

WWD: What are your favorite accessories and do you match them with your outfits?M.P.: Everything in the collection is fabulous, but anything with “Moi” on it is a personal favorite. I’m sure you feel exactly the same way. Don’t you? Of course, you do. I match my “Who Moi?!” Hallie tote with my fabulous “Who Moi?!” sweater. With a wristlet, a clutch, a key chain, a necklace, a sweater and stud earrings — all part of the Disney Miss Piggy Collection by Kate Spade New York. N’est ce pas?
WWD: How important is fashion to your life, and do you feel it’s an important aspect of women’s lives today?M.P.: My style is more moi-centric. In the beginning, I used to seek approval from others about my fashion choices. Now, I trust myself. If I wear it, you better like it. Attitude is everything. Your clothes should always make a statement. I like mine to say: “Yoo-hoo, everybody, look at me! I’m fabulous! Don’t you wish you were moi?” I also believe every young women needs to know that though you may have to struggle and strive to achieve your dreams, you can have oodles of fun along the way. Be curious. Be daring. Be different. Be yourself. And, if that doesn’t work, be moi!z

WWD: What special features did you insist on in your accessories?M.P.: Moi! Moi! Moi!z
WWD: What’s your favorite must-have accessory?M.P.: Oh, everything in the collection is fabulous, but if I have to choose I’d say that all of the pieces with “Moi” on them are my favorite. If it’s got anything to do with moi, I don’t leave the house without it.z
WWD: Do you feel accessories make the woman?M.P.: Oh, attitude makes the woman, darling! But naturally I have to mention moi’s incredible collection as an absolute must. What do you think: this is my first rodeo? Hah!

The Muppets To Open Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!

As posted yesterday on their official Twitter feed, the Muppets will opening this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!

The Muppets have a grand tradition with the Macy's parade going back to Sesame Street's first appearance in 1974.

While the Sesame Street gang has continued to appear in the parade every year since, the Muppets haven't been seen at the parade since 2012!

Kermit first appeared in balloon form in 1977, which continued to operate until 1991. 

In 2002, a new Kermit balloon debuted which was seen in the parade until 2012.

 

The actual Muppet characters have even made a few appearances in the felt, including 1979 to promote The Muppet Movie and 1981 The Great Muppet Caper.

In 1987, Jim Henson and Kermit received the Rollie Award, while in 1990 Kermit and Miss Piggy appeared as costumed characters. 

In 2002, Kermit and Miss Piggy appeared to promote It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie. In 2008, Kermit came back to the parade to perform "I Believe", which he performed again in 2009 which was his last appearance at the parade.

I believe we're in for a real treat as The Muppets are not only set to appear for the first time in 7 years, but open the parade as well!

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will air on Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 24th at 9am EST on NBC. Set those DVR's!

PizzeRizzo Menu and Opening Date!

The Disney Parks blog announced the menu today for PizzeRizzo, the new Muppet themed eatery inside the Muppets Courtyard at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

The menu will include personal-sized pies.

Entrees will be served with a side Caesar salad, and include personal-sized Pizza Pies, available in four varieties—vegetable, pepperoni, meat lovers and cheese, as well as a Meatball Sub.

Lighter options include the Antipasto Salad features a bed of Romaine lettuce piled high with tomatoes, Mozzarella, Kalamata olives, ham, pepperoni, salami and Balsamic Vinaigrette.

The dessert list is comprised of traditional Italian sweets like Cannoli and Tiramisu.

Specialty drinks will also be available, including a non-alcoholic Peach Bellini, and a Wildberry-Basil Lemonade Limoncello in addition to beer and wine for adults.

But that's not all, "inside guests will find décor inspired by Rizzo, as well as his extended family and friends who have visited PizzeRizzo over the years throughout the two-story eatery. Be sure to head upstairs to Rizzo’s Deluxe Supreme Banquet Hall, where there’s a wedding reception already in progress; join the party and show off your best moves under the disco ball to the world’s greatest party playlist!"
