"Messy Swedish Chef" Action Figure Coming to SDCC!

Diamond Select Toys announced their line of San Diego Comic Con exclusives including a "Messy" version of their deluxe Swedish Chef action figure. 

"Bork bork bork! The Swedish Chef has caused a kitchen catastrophe in this exclusive variant action figure from the Muppets Select line. With food splattered all over his apron, he comes with a slew of food and dishes, plus a table to cook on and even a chicken! Packages in a full-color window box with fifth panel."

Diamond Select Toys' Deluxe Swedish Chef action figure was sculpted by Gentle Giant Studios will cost $30 and the con will be limited to 500 pieces. 

Sesame Street Gang to Appear on A Capitol Fourth!

It's been a decade, but the gang from Sesame Street will be back to celebrate Independence Day in Washington D.C.

PBS announced this year's lineup for A Capitol Fourth and Big Bird, Elmo, Rosita, Abby, Bert, Ernie, and Grover will be joining fellow celebrity's John Stamos, Carole King, Lindsey Stirling, and Vanessa Williams. 

That's not all, the event is free and open to the public so you can see them perform in person!

Coming Soon: Dark Crystal Age of Resistance Comic!

BOOM! Studios announced that a new comic book series is on the way based on The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.

The 12-issues series written by Jeffrey Adis and Will Matthews, will introduce the untold histories of key characters from the show, and featuring explosive events tying into the highly anticipated Netflix series.

Enter a world of wonder, danger, and excitement with writer Nicole Andelfinger (Adventure Time) and artist Matias Basla (Sparrowhawk) as they uncover an epic story from the world of Thra in the time before Age of Resistance. War and chaos reign over the once peaceful land and Gelflings everywhere must fight for the survival of their clans against menacing forces. When a Gelfling soldier sets off on a quest to retrieve the one item that could save their people, he changes the destinies of the inhabitants of Thra forever.

Nicole Andelfinger is a comic book writer who has written for series such as Adventure Time, Regular Show, Rugrats, and Steven Universe from BOOM! Studios, as well as the Munchkin series for Simon & Schuster, based on the popular card game from Steve Jackson Games.

“There’s something extraordinarily universal about the theme of good vs. evil that seems to speak to so many people from so many walks of life. It’s why I think The Dark Crystal has such a strong legacy, even to this day!” said writer, Nicole Andelfinger. “When I was offered the chance to play in that sandbox, exploring the facets of that conflict through some pivotal Age of Resistance, characters, well, I couldn’t say no! With Matias Basla’s beautiful art, I’m sure you’ll come to love and adore these new additions to the world just as we have.”

Matias Basla is an artist, designer, and illustrator originally from Santa Fe, Argentina. Basla has worked as a conceptual artist and character designer for different animation and video game studios, mixing this work with numerous comics projects. Most recently, he was the artist for the comic book series, Sparrowhawk, written by Delilah S. Dawson and published by BOOM! Studios.

“The Dark Crystal universe is something that has always fascinated me, from its unique artistic design to its history. Having the opportunity to work on Age of Resistance, with such awesome characters and such a unique world is a joy as an artist.” said artist, Matias Basla. “This is the kind of project that one faces with much love and respect, and I’m very happy to be the artist for this amazing series.”

The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance Exhibit Coming to London!

Dark Crystal fans in the UK will soon be able to explore the sets of The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance a special exhibition coming to the British Film Institute in London's Southbank district.

 

Visitors will see the Skeksis banquet, the Stone in the Wood, the Emperor’s throne, come face to face with some Skeksis, Gelfling, and even Aughra herself.

The exhibition will also feature puppet workshops, Q&A sessions, and a making-of gallery showing how the puppets are created, featuring sketches, notes, sets and models from the series.

The exhibition will run from August 23 until September 6. Tickets for the museum are available here.

Today The Muppet Movie, the Muppets first foray into feature films turns 40.

Two More Muppet Babies Play Date Shorts!

Two more Muppet Babies live action "Play Date" shorts are now online. 

First, Kermit asks his friend Janice to make sure no one eats his cookie while he goes to wash his hands!

Then, Gonzo tests Summer and her friends Alijah & Aureelia to see if they've got what it takes perform in his big dance show!

As a reminder, these puppet versions of the Muppet Babies are all performed by the Muppet performers and voiced by the cast of the show.

A new short will be released each week on Disney Jr's youtube channel.
