General Mills Launching Sesame Street Cereal!

General Mills Inc. announced it's launching a Sesame Street cereal to make breakfast "more fun, delicious, and educational."

“We are thrilled to team up with 'Sesame Street' to launch cereals with key nutrients, delicious flavors, and playful learning opportunities to make breakfast that much more meaningful for parents and kids alike,” said Hillary Balma, senior brand manager at General Mills, in a news release. “We know that breakfast can be challenging for parents who are struggling to find foods that offer both the nutrition and the fun flavors kids want.”

The back of each box will open like a book and include a short story with Elmo in English and Spanish. Each story follows Elmo as he engages in counting, recognizing shapes and letters.

“Sesame Workshop’s mission is to help kids grow smarter, stronger, and kinder, and that means nourishing the mind and body,” said Gabriela Arenas, vice president of licensing, North America, Sesame Workshop, in the news release. “Breakfast gives kids the boost they need to grow, play, and learn each day.”

Post 's "C is For Cereal"

This isn't' the first time Sesame Street has been "cerialized" though. Back in 2013, Post Foods had a short lived Sesame Street "C is for Cereal" line.

Look for the new Sesame Street cereal in January when it will launch with two flavors:

The C is for Cinnamon, which features Cookie Monster and Elmo on the box, includes cinnamon flavored cereal pieces in A-Z letter shapes.

The 1 2 3 Berry, which has Elmo and Abby Cadabby on the box and includes berry flavored cereal pieces in 0-9 number shapes.
