Weta Labyrinth Ello Worm 1/1 Scale Statue!

Ello there! WETA Workshop has released the next statue in their Labyrinth line - the Ello Worm.

The 1:1 scale open edition statue features premium synthetic faux fur hair.

Sadly, his scarf is not fabric, but that would have have a nice addition. However, the rest of the detail is very nicely done.

The mysterious denizens of Labyrinth come in all shapes and sizes, and each is just as likely to help as they are to hinder. As Sarah collapses from exhaustion whilst seeking an entrance to the maze, a small but cheery voice calls out to her, “Ello.”

A single worm, small enough to fit in the palm of one’s hand, with three tufts of dark blue hair rests near a small hole in the Labyrinth’s walls. After offering a moment of brief respite to our young heroine and a promise of hospitality that is rarely shared among strangers, this inconspicuous creature reveals one of the Labyrinth’s many hidden secrets, opening Sarah’s eyes to the first of many illusions to come.

FEATURES:1:1 scale, open edition, mixed media statue;
Portrays the cute and curiously kind worm that aids Sarah early on in her quest;
Digitally sculpted by Wētā Workshop sculptor Kim Beaton;
Incredible detail replicated in life-like 1:1 scale;
Labyrinthine base physically sculpted by Shaun Bolton;
Hair made from premium synthetic faux fur;
Wrapped up in his signature red scarf;
Made from high-quality polystone.

Weta Workshop's Labyrinth Ello Worm 1/1 Scale Statue is available to pre-order now from Weta Workshop, Big Bad Toy Store, and more.

Brian Jay Jones Retraces Jim Henson's Final days!

For the last 32 years, May 16th has been a very hard day for Muppet fans. For those blissfully unaware, that is the day the world lost Jim Henson.

Over the last few days, Henson biography Brian Jay Jones has done an incredible job of not only retracing the timeline of events in leading up to Jim's untimely death, but doing so in an almost real time manner.

The tweets/ threads are not easy to process - it's like re-watching a car accident you know doesn't go well, but the detail of the timeline, and the first person accounts Brian was able to get give the story new perspectives you probably didn't know.

Brian's done such a tremendous job with these, that we couldn't think of a better way to honor Jim this year, then but sharing his timeline of Jim's final days.

Thank you Brian, and as we always say on May 16th, We miss you, Jim!

Muppet Merch at The University of Maryland!

The University of Maryland is celebrating their most famous alumni, Jim Henson.

Not only do they already have a statue of Jim and Kermit and now they've unveiled a new line of exclusive merchandise to coincide with their new puppetry exhibit.

There's a long sleeve "Maryland" shirt featuring Fozzie, Gonzo, and Kermit,

a University of Maryland shirt featuring Kermit,

and a "Wild About Maryland" shirt featuring Animal.

The shirts are also available online.

The Art & Craft of Puppetry Exhibit  "explores how puppets have captured our imagination by examining specific puppets, universal characteristics, international aesthetics, and local puppet companies. It also asks a playfully provocative question: What makes a puppet? The diversity of puppet styles and techniques displayed provides the opportunity for visitors to think more broadly about an art form that transcends cultural boundaries, while also demonstrating how puppets work.

Six puppets, including a character from the original Fraggle Rock series on loan from The Jim Henson Company and others on loan from the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta, will be on view."

The University of Maryland 's The Art & Craft of Puppetry Exhibit is open to the public until July 29, 2022.

Thanks to Philip Jeremy Moyer for the info.
