Jim Henson's Enchanted Sisters!

No, not a biographical story about Jim Henson's sisters (he didn't have any - enchanted or otherwise), but a new series of children's books about a magical group of sisters that control the seasons.

From Amazon:

"Sisters Autumn, Winter, Spring, and Summer are nature’s royalty. In Mother Nature’s realm, they’re responsible for each magical turn of the seasons. When they’re not keeping all of nature in balance, the girls play, imagine, and explore their way around their enchanted world. And though they love harmony, the sisters often cross paths with the Weeds — wild boys who bring trouble with them wherever they go.
This charming new series comes from The Jim Henson Company and is perfectly suited for newly independent readers who love the Rainbow Fairies and Candy Fairies series. The series launches with Autumn when she loses a special gift from Mother Nature. Can the sisters find the gift before Mother Nature’s party?"
The first book entitled "Jim Henson's Enchanted Sisters: Autumn's Secret Gift" will be released August 5. You can pre-order it from local bookstore and from Amazon.

The back cover tells you about each sister:

Autumn thinks deep thoughts and wears her heart on her  sleeve.
Winter craves adventure and the spotlight, and can never say no to a dare.
Spring gleefully chats with plants and animals in their own language.
Summer races and leaps like the fiercest jungle cat, the leader of the Sparkle pack.

As well as shows off the cover of the next installment....

"Jim Henson's Enchanted Sisters: Winter's Flurry Adventure" which will be released October 14th.

In 2015, the last two sisters get their own books when "Jim Henson's Enchanted Sisters: Spring's Sparkle Sleepover" is released on January 20th and "Jim Henson's Enchanted Sisters: Summer's Friendship Games" April 7th.

We'll be sure to keep you posted about any new "Enchanted" developments!

Wizard World Philly - Roundup!

If you follow us on Facebook, you know that we were at the the Pennsylvania Convention Center Sunday, scouring the makeshift walkways for all the Muppet /Henson offerings to be found at Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con!

While we did see a few Muppet Hot Wheels, vintage Dinosaurs action figures, and a few beat up plush, the majority of  Muppet items that caught my eye were t-shirts. Below is a sampling of the items that caught my eye.

A Gonzo face shirt, they also had a similar one of Kermit - on green- of course.

 Two different Muppet labs shirts!

Two different Electric Mayhem shirts. Only one featuring Dr. Teeth though.

A rather impressive selection of Labyrinth shirts...

including this one for the 25th Anniversary:

One vendor had the limited edition "The Muppets Tour Globe" print for $40. which is exactly the same price as on Acme Archives, but without having to pay for shipping.

Well put a "lid" on our coverage of Wizard World in a minute, but first check out these these New Era hats. The top ones seems to be a new design, with Kermit's head blending into the hat. The bottom one, while available for awhile now, gets me every time. It evokes the finale of The Great Muppet Caper so muchthat it might as well have logo on it!

But by far the most impressive item I found, shirt or otherwise was this shirt featuring Animal and the Swedish Chef in a"on night only" talent show poster. What made me do a triple take and like it so much?

Take a closer look at the top of the shirt...

Notice anything amazing about those two logos?  In an age when Disney apparently has to get permission to use Jim Henson's name on anything to the point where they credited "The Muppet Show Theme" on the Muppets Most Wanted Soundtrack to "James Henson", not only is his name used, but so is the entire Jim Henson Company logo! And on an officially licensed, post 2011, item no less! I'm not sure how they got away with that, but it's amazing!

Be on the lookout for these and other items when a Wizard World or another comic con comes to a town near you.

Final Lawsuit Against Kevin Clash Dismissed!

We haven't really covered this much, but great news came out today as another lawsuit against Kevin Clash was dismissed.

U.S.District Judge Christopher Conner in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, dismissed the lawsuit on Thursday, ruling it had not been filed within the statute of limitations in New York. The lawsuit was filed by a man who accused Clash, 53, of engaging in a sexual relationship during visits to New York that began in 2004, when the man was 16.
The lawsuit was filed last year.
A judge in New York previously dismissed three other lawsuits against Clash by men who accused him of sexually abusing them when they were under age. The New York judge also said the statute of limitations had run out.
Accusations against Clash led to his resignation in 2012 from the job he held for 28 years as the puppeteer who brought life to Elmo, the red, furry monster featured on the international children's television series.
Clash's attorney could not immediately be reached for comment.
