Channing was known for her role in the stage productions of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Hello, Dolly! for which she won a Tony Award for Best Actress. Another Special Tony Award came in 1968, followed by a Lifetime Achievement Award Tony in 1995. We remember her best though for her 4th season appearance on The Muppet Show.
She later appeared on Sesame Street in 1984, singing "Hello, Sammy!" a parody of her famed Broadway tune with Sammy the Snake.
Carol Channing was 97.
