NYCC 2019 Roundup!
All this month we'll be looking back at a few things that slipped by us during the year.
Back in October we traveled to New York Comic Com to see all the Henson sights the Javits center had to offer.
Now, on to New York Comic Con itself.
Once again Muppet and Henson comic artists James Silvani, Amy Mebberson, and Katie Cooke were at artist's alley.
Corey Godbey and David Peterson had their original artwork for Tides of The Dark Crystal
and Power of The Dark Crystal's variant covers.
We also got to meet Fraggle Rock comic artist Art Baltazar:
and Joe Manganiello, who was live screen printing shirts -
Back in October we traveled to New York Comic Com to see all the Henson sights the Javits center had to offer.
While not officially part of Comic Con, D23 - Disney's fan club, held an anniversary screening of The Muppets Take Manhattan - just for gold members.
The screening was hosted by Jim Henson Legacy President Craig Chemin and they gave out this exclusive Kermit patch to those in attendance.
Again, not part of the con inteslf, but Midtown Comics had a few magazines and comics featuring The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.

Artist "Jordan" had a selection on non-licenced pop culture silhouettes including this two pack of Labyrinth's Sarah and Jareth.
And Artovision had a 3D recreation of Sesame Street's Pinball number count:
Celebrities in attendance included Benedict Wong who voiced the Skeksis General in The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance,
including a NYCC exclusive - as part of his Death Saves clothing line.
We also spotted this Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II art print:
On a semi-Muppet related note. Puppet prank call show Crank Yankers is back and had a major promotion area including a phone you could listen to the calls and a photo area where you you pose with cutouts of the puppets.
Shout out to the Henson performers who work on the show including our friends Rachel Herrick and Nicolette Santino.
Death Saves NYCC Exclusive Shirt |
Joe's a huge Dark Crystal fan and was happy to be able to make designs/ shirts based on the show. He was also nice enough to take a photo with us showing off his FizzGig shirt and sign our exclusive shirt after he screen printed it.
You can order all his non-exclusive Dark Crystal shirts at Death Saves.
There was plenty of Henson related cosplay around the con including. We spotted a Deet, a couple Jareth's, Sarah, Max from the Where the Wild Things Are (remember the Creature Shop movie?), and Jim Henson himself.
FYE had the Jim Henson and their exclusive glow in the dark Deet Funko POP!
While Funko, had their NYCC exclusive version of the Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance's Wanderer and Heretic POP! figures as well as a "I love Rian" pin.
If you weren't lucky enough to grab one from the Funko booth, there were a few third party sellers that had them - some at reasonable prices, other not, like the one below, spotted for $100!
Diamond Select had a few of their SDCC exclusive Messy Chef's available which we were told was the last of the stock .
Zen Monkey Studios recently acquired the Sesame Street licence had their first few pins available at the show,
including an exclusive Super Grover pin.
Boom! Studios had a selection of their recent Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, and other Henson titles.
While not technically Muppet-related, Super 7 debuted their new Philly Phanatic ReAction figure. You may recall that the Phanatic was designed by long time Muppet builder Bonnie Erickson.
Throughout the show floor there were many other Henson related items like, last year's SDCC exclusive Constantine "Dark Kermit" plush labeled as "Kermit."
Regular and Loot Crate editions of Caseen Gaines' Dark Crystal: A visual History and Dark Crystal Loot Crate note cards.
The extremely rare NYCC Dark Crystal Funko ReAction Winged Kira and Garthin set.
The exclusive Funko shop flocked Fraggle Rock POP! set:
Gentle Giant Animal bust:
As well a a plethora of other new and vintage Henson toys:
And then there are the random Muppet fan meet ups. We ran into Zach Woliner, Christopher Smigliano, and Melissa Scopelitis - who helped us get to meet the aforementioned Joe Manganiello.
And found out that we may be seeing Henson Geeki Tikis soon.
On a semi-Muppet related note. Puppet prank call show Crank Yankers is back and had a major promotion area including a phone you could listen to the calls and a photo area where you you pose with cutouts of the puppets.
