As you know Spinney was the man inside Big Bird and under Oscar the Grouch until he retired last year.
I had the pleasure of meeting Carol and his wife Deb a few times over the years, first on his book tour for The Wisdom of Big Bird (and the Dark Genius of Oscar the Grouch): Lessons from a Life in Feathers and later for the premieres for I Am Big Bird: The Caroll Spinney Story and his comic con appearances.
