The Dark Crystal Deluxe Vinyl Soundtrack - Exclusive Picture Disc!

ThinkGeek has a new vinyl picture disc version of The Dark Crystal soundtrack.



The exclusive, limited edition, picture disc features the main characters on the front and a shard on the back.


Only 500 will be made available starting this Friday on ThinkGeek's website

Enjoy The Ride's Dark Crystal Deluxe Edition Viynl On Sale Friday!

After teasing us for some time, Enjoy The Ride Records finally revealed the full details about their upcoming Deluxe Edition Dark Crystal Soundtrack.


Not only was the full version of the cover, gatefold, and back images finally revealed...



they also released images and edition sizes of the variant vinyl colors well.

From Enjoy the Ride:
In celebration of the 35th Anniversary of The Dark Crystal, the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack will be available across five deluxe anniversary edition vinyl variants*, courtesy of The Jim Henson Company and Enjoy The Toons Records. This Deluxe 35th Anniversary Edition is pressed on 180-200 gram limited edition colored vinyl, complete with die-cut center labels** and housed in a 400gsm gatefold jacket. This release also includes a 24-page photo booklet, which includes rarely seen production photos, interviews, original poster art from around the world, and concept art from The Jim Henson Company archives.
The soundtrack features Trevor Jones' musical score written for the groundbreaking fantasy classic directed by Jim Henson and Frank Oz, and was arranged specifically for an album listening experience. The album was recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in 1982.
And as previously reported:

While Supplies Last, each order will receive an exclusive 12" x 12" art print with randomly selected orders receiving a signed print by Josh Bodwell.

More Details About Deluxe Edition Dark Crystal Soundtrack!

As we told you last last month, Enjoy The Ride Records is releasing a deluxe edition Dark Crystal soundtrack.

We now have a look at the final cover (sans logo),


and found out that select web variant orders from Enjoy The Ride Records will include a print of the cover hand signed by artist Josh Bodwell!



While we still don't have an exact release date, we hear it's coming very soon.

Deluxe Edition Dark Crystal Soundtrack!

Enjoy The Ride Records is releasing small teases of information about their upcoming Dark Crystal deluxe edition soundtrack

To differentiate this set from the Record Store Day version the deluxe features brand new art work  by Josh Bodwell, which has yet to be fully revealed. 


As you'll see bellow  they have released a few sections:




This deluxe version will come in a numbered gatefold sleeve, will be available in various 180gram color vinyl configurations, and comes with a book and CD of the soundtrack as well. 



While we wait for info on the release date, you can get in the mood by checking out this recording of Spain's RTVE Symphony Orchestra performing the songs from the soundtrack.

Enjoy The Ride to Release Deluxe Edition Dark Crystal Soundtrack!

Buoyed by the demand for their Record Store Day vinyl reissue of The Dark Crystal soundtrack, Enjoy The Ride Records teased that they are going to release a Deluxe Edition. 

The deluxe version will have completely new cover art (presumably blurred out above), come in a numbered gatefold sleeve, & will be available in "various 180gram deluxe colored vinyl configurations".

Translation: Multiple record colors to drive fans crazy while making them extra cash from completists. 

Enjoy The Ride promises more info is on the way but this deluxe versions will be available for this holiday season.

Dark Crystal Soundtrack Record Store Day Exclusive!

This year Record Store Day celebrates it's 10th anniversary of enticing people to visit their local music store with limited edition releases.

 
Past Record Store Day exclusive Muppet releases include The Muppet Movie soundtrack, John Denver and the Muppets: A Christmas Together, and Sesame Road.

This year brings a reissue of the soundtrack to The Dark Crystal.



The Dark Crystal has been released on record before in with the film's original release in 1982. This time, however, Trevor Jone's music for the film will be released on "Crystal Clear" vinyl to represent the crystal itself. 


The cover has also been changed from the original release. It now features the Richard Amsel poster, similar to one used for La-La Land Records' exclusive 2007 CD reissue.

The Dark Crystal: The Original Soundtrack features Trevor Jones’ musical score written for the film, arranged specifically for an album listening experience. The album was recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra at the legendary Abby road studios in 1982. The album has been reissued on CD in various countries throughout the last 35 years, but this is the first vinyl reissue since the film’s original release.

The Record Store Day exclusive version will be pressed on 140 gram vinyl be limited to 2,000 copies and have an "upgraded 400gsm thick LP Jacket."
