Last week a rumor floated that Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas was not only coming to CD for the first time but also an exclusive Record Store exclusive vinyl record.
Well, Record Store Day released the official list and guess what's on it?
Yup, Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas! It will be a "Record Store Day First" release meaning other retailers will be able to sell it as a non-limited edition sometime in the future.
The initial LE run will be just 1800 copies. Check your local participating record store on Black Friday to see if they put a hole in the washtub!
Buoyed by the demand for their Record Store Day vinyl reissue of The Dark Crystal soundtrack, Enjoy The Ride Records teased that they are going to release a Deluxe Edition.
The deluxe version will have completely new cover art (presumably blurred out above), come in a numbered gatefold sleeve, & will be available in "various 180gram deluxe colored vinyl configurations".
Translation: Multiple record colors to drive fans crazy while making them extra cash from completists. Enjoy The Ride promises more info is on the way but this deluxe versions will be available for this holiday season.
As we first reported back in February, the Labyrinth soundtrack is getting a vinyl reissue.
In addition to The Dark Crystal Soundtrack being reissued on vinyl for Record Store Day, Capitol Records will reissue the Labyrinth soundtrack only a few weeks later!
We now know that this is a new remaster of the classic soundtrack.
It's also the first time it's been available on vinyl since its original 1986 release.
It will be released May 12, and you can pre-order now through Amazon.
First released in 1993 on cassette only then reissued two years later on CD, Sesame Road is now finding it's groove on record!
The limited edition vinyl record is being released as part of this year's Record Store Day - Black Friday. It will be limited to 2,000 copies and come in 4 colors red, blue, yellow, and green all randomly distributed. "Grouch" green being the hardest to find.
Enjoy The Ride Records has teamed up with The Jim Henson Company to release a limited edition vinyl pressing of "The Best of Fraggle Rock."
The inside gatefold cover shows a map of Fraggle Rock drawn by Michael Frith (the same image that was used for the poster included in the Lionsgate's complete series DVD set.)
The back covers features Jr. Gorg and the track list.
Side A 1. Fraggle Rock Theme 2. Follow Me 3. Do It On My Own 4. Wemblin’ Fool 5. Lost And Found 6. Catch the Tail By the Tiger 7. Brave Boy, Jump Up 8. Muck And Goo 9. Friendship Song 10. Fraggle Rock Rock 11. Beetle Song 12. Easy Is the Only Way To Go 13. Pantry Chant
Side B 14. Our Melody 15. Pukka, Pukka, Pukka Squeetily Boink 16. Let Me Be Your Song 17. Pass It On 18. Yes, We Can 19. Perfect Harmony 20.The Rock Goes On 21. Dum De Dum 22. Workin’ 23. I Seen Troubles 24. Closing Theme
The records themselves come in different color variations based on the Fraggle characters. The Gobo, Mokey, Wembley, Boober, or Red records are limited to 150 copies each, while the Sprocket and Trash Heap records are limited to 125 copies each.
Here's where it get a bit funky, each record has the same image of the Fraggles on the front and Trash Heap on the B side.
It would have been a lot nicer and made the color choices more apparent if the different characters they represented were on the flip side, especially since Sprocket is only seen in the gatefold map.
You pick up your copy (or copies if you're a completist) here.

“The Sesame Street Carry About”
By Melissa Scopelitis
When The Children's Television Workshop first presented their new concept in teaching inner city kids basic letters, numbers and fundamentals to in order to better prepare them for school, it was a new venture not only in using television to teach children, but also a new venture in how to promote a show that was on public television. Remember, this was in 1969 and they had limited funding, no commercials for revenue, or social media to help expand awareness to the masses the way most productions can today. Since they didn’t have any of that, they first relied on printed promotional materials to spread the show, and in 1970, released a 45 RPM set of some early songs from show in a neat little record collection called “The Sesame Street Carry About” released by Columbia Records.
I was lucky enough to score most of the records in this set at a garage sale in the mid-90s. I am a huge fan of early Sesame Street in general, so any related memorabilia is a must have for me. There were actually some the seller had that were so beyond the condition of playing, I was afraid it would destroy my turntable, and I left them behind. According to the pretty thorough info on Muppet Wiki, it looks like only I'm missing one or two records from the set.
The ones I did buy, I treasure and the track listings for them are listed as follows:
(Editors note: The track list made us so nostalgic we included one track from each record, be sure to give them a listen)
The Sesame Street Book & Record: "Sesame Street theme" on side 1, and "Hello" on the B
(Note: Who remembers what "On the B" means these days!)
Feeling: "Nearly Missed" on Side 1 and "A Face" on Side 2
Letters: "ABC-DEF-GHI" on Side 1 and "J-Jump" on Side 2
Shapes & Up and Down: "One of These Thing's" on Side 1, and "Up and Down" on Side 2
People & Play: "People In Your Neighborhood" on Side 1, and "Somebody Come and Play" on Side 2
Numbers: "Five People in My Family" on Side 1, and "I've Got Two" on Side 2
The best part about these records, for me, anyway, is the wonderful artwork and photos of the early Sesame characters and human cast members.
All the sleeves also contain the song lyrics and an interesting look at the original Children's Television Workshop logo, which was a little marching soldier with one leg and arm raised, marching with a very "Nutcracker" type feel to it.
These records are definitely a fun find if you happen to come across them at a garage sale, flea market, or used record store, especially if you are a serious early Sesame Street collector and love photos of Oscar when he was orange, and Bob and Susan when they were young spring chickens.
The set also really gives you a feel into what the show was trying to accomplish at the time for its target audience, so there's definitely a spirit about them while flipping through the booklets, and listening to them that I miss about that era.
Thank you for reading and if any other Muppet fan sites like what I wrote, please feel free to contact me, I would love to write a review for your site as well!
