Emmet Otter Album Prints by Dave Perillo!

Plastic Meatball has a set of limited edition Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas prints by artist Dave Perillo.

Officially licensed by the Jim Henson Company, each 12" print is made to look like album cover for Emmet Otter's Jug-Band or the Riverbottom Nightmare' Band.

Each print is limited to 125 each (variants limited to 78) and will be available at today 12PM PST at plasticmeatball.com.

Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas Opens in Chicago!

Back in May we got word that the theater production of Jim Henson’s Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas would be coming to Chicago and this week the show opened!

The live theatrical adaptation opened yesterday in Chicago's Studebaker Theater and plays through December 31, 2023.

Based on the beloved television special, the family-friendly musical features music and lyrics by Paul Williams, with a book by lead producer Timothy Allen McDonald, and direction and choreography by Christopher Gattelli.

The production mixes human performers as the main cast surrounded by puppets created by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop and is produced by iTheatrics in association with The Jim Henson Company. 

It's the same musical that premiered at Goodspeed Opera House in 2008 and played Off-Broadway at the New Victory Theater in December of 2021.

First Look: Plastic MeatBall's Labyrinth & Emmet Otter Figures!

Over the weekend, Plastic Meatball unveiled their upcoming Labyrinth and Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas action figures at DesignerCon.

First, we have Emmet who comes with Pa's tool kit and a freshly cut Christmas branch. 

It also appears that we'll be getting not one, but two different Ma figures. One with Ma in her everyday clothes.

And another in her talent show outfit. 

I'm hoping a least one of them comes with a washtub we can put a hole in or a boat we can use to deliver laundry. 

UPDATE:

The washtub base accessory is to non-talent show Ma’s left! 

As for Labyrinth so far four half figures have been revealed in the line.

As you can see, while the Labyrinth figures were shown in their packaging, only the Emmet Otter figures themselves were shown.

No release date or any other information was revealed, but we've definitely looking forward to these figures.  

 

Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas Returns To The Stage this Winter!

Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas will return to the stage this winter with a run at The New Victory Theater in NYC. 

Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas was first performed as a stage play in 2008 in Connecticut's Goodspeed Opera House with a final run the following year. 

This stage adaptation by iTheatrics features a lovable mix of performers and puppet characters from the Jim Henson Company with book by Timothy Allen McDonald and Christopher Gattelli who returns to direct and choreograph. The score is by Academy Award winner Paul Williams who also wrote new music for the stage version of the show. 

This will be the New York City premiere of Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas and will run from December 6-January 2, 2022.

Tickets go on sale Friday, September 10 at The New Victory Theater's website.

Emmet Otter's Picture Disc and The Muppets Celebrate Black Friday!

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday here in the states. This year the day after turkey day was filled with Muppety goodness. Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas 

received a Record Store Day picture disc and the Muppets had special Black Friday video. 

Varèse Sarabande produceded a picture disc of Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas 

as a Record Store Day Black Friday exclusive that was limited to 3000 copies.

Emmet Otter Picture Disc Record Store Day Exclusive!

Varèse Sarabande Records is re-releasing the soundtrack to Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas as a picture disc for Record Store Day. 

The 16-track album is limited to 2500 copies and features a picture of the Riverbottom Nightmare Band on Side B!

Record Store Day Black Friday 2019 is November 29th at independent record stores more info can be found here. 

Coming Soon: Emmet Otter on Blu-Ray!

It was recently announced that the soundtrack to Emmett Otter's Jugband Christmas will finally be released, and now comes word that the special itself will be re-released this year on bluray!

While, it isn't available to pre-order yet, Blu-ray.com, say it will be released December 18th!

Coming Soon: Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas Soundtrack!

The long awaited soundtrack to Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas is coming soon. 

A link recently surfaced on Amazon and led to speculation that the soundtrack to the beloved 1977 special would finally be released.

We reached out to Varese Sarabande, who has a deal to release Jim Henson Company  soundtracks, and while no official announcement is ready at this time, they did confirm the release is happening. 

We can only hope that extra songs written for the stage version make it to the release as well, but we'll see when the official announcement is made.

According to Amazon, the Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas soundtrack will be released November 2nd.

Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas 40th Anniversary DVD!

It's hard to believe, but this year marks the 40th anniversary of the perennial Henson classic
Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas.

It's also hard to believe that this marks the first time the special has been officially released on DVD with Kermit's scenes intact! 

So far, the only brick and mortar store that seems to have in their store is Barnes & Noble.  Walmart, Target, and Best Buy carry it, but only online. Of course you can also order your copy from Amazon.
