Hollywood Spotlight's Ultimate Guide to Sesame Street Magazine!

No, you're not seeing double; Hollywood Spotlight also has new specialty magazine celebrating Sesame Street's 50th anniversary. There's is "The Ultimate Guide to Sesame Street."

The cover is almost identical to the LIFE Magazine issue, and there are a few other images that can be found in both magazines.

There is also a section on Jim Henson, 

pages about the characters, 

the human cast throughout the years, 

and the international co-productions.

Hollywood Spotlight's version has a nice break down of the various aspects that define the series including it's diversity, and spoofs.

There's a great collage of guest stars that have appeared on the show as well as a section on Sesame Street's feature films. 

While most of the magazine is terrific and offers rare images and insights to the show, there are a few oddities that stand out.

Kermit's quote in the "Words of Wisdom" section is from 2011's The Muppets, and not Sesame Street:

And for some reason they thought they should include Miss Piggy, who has never been on the show in the quiz. 

Other than that Hollywood Spotlight's "Ultimate Guide to Sesame Street" is a great way to celebrate 50 years of Sesame Street.

LIFE Magazine Celebrates 50 Years of Sesame Street!

LIFE has a new specialty magazine celebrating Sesame Street's 50th Anniversary. 

The magazine showcases the history of the series and has a great array of rare behind the scenes photos.

There are chapters on the characters, puppeteers, human performers, and the shows  international co-productions.

There is also a special section about Jim Henson and his lasting creative legacy. 

LIFE Magazine Celebrates 50 Years of Sesame Street is well worth picking up, if only for the rare photos like the one below:

Special Sesame Street: 50 Years and Still Sunny! Documentary Coming to PBS!

In addition to Sesame Street's 50th Anniversary celebration special, PBS will air a new documentary, Sesame Street: 50 Years and Still Sunny!

According to Broadway World, the special will feature interviews with Jodie Foster, Itzhak Perlman, LL Cool J, filmmaker Ken Burns, PBS President and CEO Paula Kerger and Jeffrey D. Dunn, President and CEO of Sesame Workshop, include interviews with many of the writers and puppeteers, and will be hosted by Grammy Award winner Gloria Estefan.

"PBS is thrilled to present this Sesame Street documentary special," said Lesli Rotenberg, Chief Programming Executive and General Manager, Children's Media & Education, PBS. "For 50 years, Sesame Street  has been imparting invaluable lessons as a shining example of high-quality, educational children's television. Sesame Street: 50 Years and Still Sunny! is a warm and welcome reminder of how the series has touched the lives of viewers of all ages for decades."

Filled with video clips of Sesame Street's most unforgettable moments, the program will explore how the groundbreaking children's series captured lightning in a bottle and examines its significant and lasting impact on families across America. The program also features heartfelt testimonials from viewers, captured by PBS member stations, about the influence of Sesame Street on their lives.

Sesame Street: 50 Years and Still Sunny! premieres on PBS stations beginning Wednesday, December 4, 2019 (check local listings).

HBO released a trailer for Sesame Street's 50th Anniversary Celebration!

In addition to the details already revealed, you can now get a sneak peak at what to expect.

Sesame Street's 50th Anniversary Celebration premieres November 9 at 7PM on HBO.The special will also air Nov. 17 on PBS and will be released on DVD December 3rd.

SFX Celebrates 20 Years of Farscape!

The latest issue of SFX magazine features a cover story celebrating Farscape's 20th anniversary.  

Farscape may be a small feature on the cover, but inside the issue is a 4-page spread celebrating the show's legacy. 

The issue also features a favorable review of The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance and an accompanying drinking game that I wouldn't recommend playing as Chamberlain's whimpering "hmmmmm's" alone may send your liver into shock.  

SFX magazine issue 318 is available online and on newsstands now. Note, there's an 

alternate cover that features the Joker and just lists Farscape being featured.  

Muppet Christmas Carol Storybook Available Now!

After 27 years The Muppet Christmas Carol has it's very own illustrated storybook. 

The Muppet Christmas Carol: The Illustrated Holiday Classic is written by Brooke Vitale with art work by Luke Flowers.

Even though it's based on the movie, Luke manages to sneak a few other Muppet and references not in the original film.
