New Henson Movie "The Star" Now in Theaters!

Did you know there's a new Henson movie coming out?

What if I told you the cast included Steven Yeun, Keegan-Michael Key, Christopher Plummer, Zachary Levi, Gina Rodriguez, Ving Rhames, Kelly Clarkson, Gabriel Iglesias, Aidy Bryant, Anthony Anderson, Patricia Heaton, Kris Kristofferson, Kristin Chenoweth, Mariah Carey, Tracy Morgan, and Oprah Winfrey herself.

That sounds like a big deal movie, right? Something that would get loads of attention, right?

What if I told you that not only is this movie coming out, but already opened and is in theaters now.

This mystery movie is called The Star. Check these cast photos and the trailer below:

As you can see, there are no puppets. It's completely animated by Sony Animation. They didn't even use the Henson performance system like for Henson series like Sid the Science kid.

In fact, the only real Henson connection I could find is that it's produced by the Jim Henson Company, specifically Lisa Henson.

Here's the official description:
In Sony Pictures Animation's THE STAR, a small but brave donkey named Bo yearns for a life beyond his daily grind at the village mill. One day he finds the courage to break free, and finally goes on the adventure of his dreams. On his journey, he teams up with Ruth, a lovable sheep who has lost her flock, and Dave, a dove with lofty aspirations. Along with three wisecracking camels and some eccentric stable animals, Bo and his new friends follow the Star and become unlikely heroes in the greatest story ever told - the first Christmas. THE STAR is directed by Academy Award (R) nominated writer/director Timothy Reckart (HEAD OVER HEELS); executive-produced by DeVon Franklin (MIRACLES FROM HEAVEN), Lisa Henson and Brian Henson (The Jim Henson Company); produced by Jenni Magee Cook; with a story by Carlos Kotkin and Simon Moore; and screenplay by Carlos Kotkin. Digital animation by Cinesite Studios.
It's currently rated at 59% on Rotten TomatoesWhich it means it just missed the cutoff for being certified fresh.

You can catch The Star now at your local theater.
