Labyrinth Returning to Theaters for 35th Anniversary!

Jim Henson’s Labyrinth will return to theaters this fall in celebration of its 35th anniversary thanks to Fathom Events.


The Henson classic will be presented on the big screen for three days:

Sun., Sept. 12 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Mon., Sept. 13 at 7 p.m.
Wed., Sept. 15 at 7 p.m.

“One of our most frequently requested titles, Labyrinth enjoys a huge and devoted fan base,” said Tom Lucas, Fathom Events Vice President of Studio Relations. “We are pleased to bring this fan-favorite from The Jim Henson Company to cinemas nationwide, and especially so for its 35th anniversary.”

These 35th Anniversary screenings will be preceded by a brief featurette entitled “The Henson Legacy” - Jennifer Connelly and the Henson family talk about the art of puppetry and the magic of Jim Henson, along with a visit to the “Center for Puppetry Arts” featuring The Jim Henson Collection and over 100 puppets from Labyrinth!

Tickets for Labyrinth's 35th anniversary screenings are available through Fathom Events, Fandango, and local theaters.

Hey, See The Great Muppet Caper Movie in Theaters!

Last week saw both the 35 anniversary of Labyrinth and the 40th anniversary for The Great Muppet Caper.


A few years ago Fathom celebrated Labyrinth's 30th by bringing the classic Jim Henson directed film, back to the theaters. This year, they are celebrating the Muppet's second feature, also directed by Henson, by bringing it back to theaters as well.

Gee, I wish I were you people seeing it for the first time!

The Muppet Movie Returns to Theaters for 40th Anniversary Events!

The Muppet Movie is returning to theatres to celebrate the film's 40th anniversary. 


In June the Museum of the Moving Image is holding two screenings hosted by Jim Henson Legacy president Craig Shemin. 

On June 22, Craig will be joined by  puppet designer/builder Ed Christie and Muppet costume designer Calista Hendrickson.

The following day Craig will be joined by Austin Pendleton, who played Max.

Emmet Otter and The Bells of Fraggle Rock Coming To Theaters!

Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas and The Bells of Fraggle Rock are coming to a theater near near you this December! 


Billed as Jim Henson’s Holiday Special tickets are available at FathomEvents.com or at participating theater box offices.


Jim Henson’s Holiday Special will play in nearly 600 movie theaters nationwide on Monday, December 10, at 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, December 16, at 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. (all local times).

In addition to the in-cinema presentation of “Jim Henson’s Holiday Special,” Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will debut “Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas” on Blu-ray™ December 18, which will include the all new “A Jug-Band Revival” featurette and more.

Dark Crystal Get Longer Theatrical Re-Release!

Back in December we told that The Dark Crystal was getting a special theatrical Fathom events re-release as part of the promotion for the new 4K/ Bluray release. 


Apparently, the response has been so great, that Fathom has decided to expand the dates!
The unprecedented vision and mythic storytelling of Jim Henson’s 1982 epic fantasy-adventure “The Dark Crystal” returns to cinemas nationwide for a special two-night 4-night presentation from Fathom Events, The Jim Henson Company and Universal Pictures. Each screening of “The Dark Crystal” will also feature a brand-new featurette with Lisa Henson, CEO and President of The Jim Henson Company, who reflects on the making of this one-of-a-kind film and its creative legacy.
A milestone in fantasy filmmaking, “The Dark Crystal” was co-directed with Frank Oz (Little Shop of Horrors, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) and produced by Gary Kurtz (Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back). Following its two-day-only theatrical presentation, “The Dark Crystal” will debut on 4K Ultra HD™ and return to Blu-ray™ and digital on March 6 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.


Now, instead of just February 25th and 28th, select theaters will now have screenings on March 3rd and 6th as well!

Dark Crystal "Anniversary Edition" 4K & Blu-ray Coming Soon!

Hard to believe, but yesterday The Dark Crystal celebrated it's 35th Anniversary. The party continues is March when Sony will release a new 4K version of the film.

As you'll see below, there will be a few different configurations.

In addition to all those, Best Buy will have an exclusive steelbook, and we hear rumor of a gift set similar to the one for Labyrinth

The only version up for pre-order yet is Best Buy's steelbook, but all the version will be released on March 6th. 



To help promote the release Fathom Events is bringing the new 4K print to theaters for two nights only - February 25th and 28th.

Tickets go on sale January 12th.
