D23 Fall Issue Muppet Mentions!

The fall issue of Disney Twenty-Thee, Disney's official fan magazine just came out, and while The Muppets aren't featured, they are mentioned a few times. 

Disney fan and Muppets Haunted Mansion guest Yvette Nicole Brown was asked who was her favorite Muppet to work.

Luckily her favorite Muppet and her favorite to work with are one an the same.. Gonzo!

There were also some subtle Muppet mentions and allusions including using "It's Not Easy Being Green" as the headline for an article about She-Hulk: Attorney at Law:

The Muppets (2015) guests Keegan-Michael Key was mentioned as part of the cast of the Disney's upcoming live action remake of Pinocchio. See if you can spot the typo,

Unfortunately, that was all the Muppet stuff in this issue of Disney Twenty -three, but I'm sure we'll be seeing more with The Muppet Christmas Carol's 30th anniversary and Muppets Mayhem on the horizon. 

Family Guy and South Park Show Major Muppet Love!

Last week, just as Kermit was reveled to be one of the Masked Signers, South Park began their quarantine special with a special "Muppetized" disclaimer.

Each South Park episode begins with a similar disclaimer as the one above. As you know Disney+ added a disclaimer to certain episodes of The Muppet Show driving conservative media to label it a part of "Cancel Culture." So it seems very fitting that South Park would parody both so fittingly.

Meanwhile Family Guy, who's known for Muppet references and parodies, went full out this week by starting the episode "The Marrying Kind" with a full rendition of The Muppet Show theme. 

With the Muppets back in the spotlight expect to see many more series to show their Muppet love. 

It's Saturday Morning - Muppet Babies!

It may be Friday, but "It's Saturday Morning" is a new coffee table book that focuses on Saturday morning TV series. 

The book is arranged by decade as you can might guess, Muppet Babies gets a major presence in the 80's section. 

Also, as you can see above, one of the images they use is from the season 8 episode "Nice to Have Gnome You." The episode featured a parody of Labyrinth and footage from The Witches. That's like 3 Henson references in one! The image even has Baby Gonzo dressed as Hoggle.

Unfortunately, no other Henson Saturday morning series such as Little Muppet Monsters, City Kids, Dog City, or the animated Fraggle Rock are mentioned. Maybe they're saving them for volume 2.
