Animal Appears in New GEICO ad!

Insurance company GEICO has a long history of using famous licensed characters in their ads and now it's The Muppets turn to shill for your 15 minutes to save to 15%.

Animal appears in the first ad titled "There's An Animal In The Attic."

Sure, maybe there’s an Animal in your attic. And maybe that Animal has been working on that drum solo all night. But at least you can bundle and save with GEICO.

I'm going to go out a limb and guess we'll be seeing Kermit as a non-sequitur "frog in someone's throat", or Miss Piggy's "hamming it up" in future spots. But hey, anything that keeps the characters we love in their preverbal 15 minutes of fame, can't be all bad just as log as they don't lose 15% of their charm along the way.

DoorDash's New Sesame Street Campaign and Super Bowl Ad!

DoorDash is teaming up with Sesame Street for a new marketing campaign. The food delivery service will have new commercials and content featuring the Sesame Street Muppets including on airing during the Super Bowl.

DoorDash will mark it's first Super Bowl with our Sesame Street friends in as part of a larger campaign to showcase its other services beside food delivery.

The first 60-second spot "The Neighborhood" will run during the first quarter of the game and stars actor/ rapper Daveed Diggs along side Big Bird, Cookie Monster and Grover.

"The Neighborhood" reimagines the clastic Sesame Street song "People in Your Neighborhood"  to highlight all the things that people can order from stores in their communities through DoorDash such as convenience stores, pharmacies and pet suppliers. The spot was directed by Academy Award winner Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind).

As part of their partnership, DoorDash will donate $1 to Sesame Workshop for every order it receives on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 7, up to $1 million.

DoorDash released the teaser below for their Super Bowl ad titled "Reading" feat. Daveed Diggs, and Cookie Monster:

"Daveed Diggs and Cookie Monster spend some time reading while they wait for their DoorDash order to arrive. When Cookie Monster learns that Daveed is expecting their takeout any moment, the blue Muppet decides he needs to finish his book right away. His voracious appetite takes over and he shoves the book straight into his mouth. Although the book has a picture of his beloved baked treats on the cover, Cookie Monster determines that it's a "tough read" when it doesn't break into a million crumbs like the real food."

DoorDash's Sesame Street campaign premiere's during the Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 7 on CBS.

Let's hope this is just the first of many of pieces of new content featuring The Muppets, as Fozzie said... I miss you guys!

Sesame Street Slings for Chrysler!

The Muppets have always been known for making commercials. Since the very beginning, Jim Henson financed his company by using his characters to sell products. You can see many of these early commercials here

The Sesame Street characters, however, were mostly shielded from this practice. They were used to sell numbers and letters, not actual commercial products. Even when they did stray into shilling for products they usually featured a Sesame product whose sale fed back into Sesame Street itself.

That doesn't seem to be the case of these new Sesame Street spots for the Chrysler Pacifica. Their very clever just like the old school Henson commercials were (minus the carton violence) and the characters and relationships are all intact. It just feels odd seeing these characters hawk a product that's not directly aimed at children.
