Muppets Tease Rock N' Roller Coaster Posters, Setlist, Opening, and More!

The Muppets teased the opening of their upcoming takeover of Rock n' Roller Coaster with a flurry of news. 

Disney Parks posted this posted this teaser image of a ATA instrument case adorned with stickers featuring Kermit, roots, a stage light, L and K with a lighting bolt, green leopard spots, and Original Idol. Could those be clues to songs or other parts of the attraction?
 

They also posted this video of Animal trying to read an announcement, without any luck.

They also revealed one of the songs The Electric Mayhem will be covering for the attraction is  "Song 2" by Blur.

 

At the same time Disney held an exclusive influencer event in NYC where they showed off the posters for the attraction. Hey.Arthur.nyc was lucky to attend and snapped these photos.

 

So in addition to the band it looks like Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, and Scooter "and more" are  confirmed to appear.  

But that's not all, Disney Parks  also posted a countdown clock for the announcement of the reopening date and the full setlist for the early morning of Thursday, April 16th.

So we should know A LOT more on Thursday! Get ready to ROCK, because The Muppets take over Rock n' Roller Coaster VERY soon!

The Muppets 70th Campaign Nominated for Shorty Awards!

The Muppets 70th Anniversary campaign has been nominated for three Shorty Awards. 

The campaign is up for best Brand Awareness Campaign, Copywriting, and Brand Voice

From their submission:

Their objective was to execute a 70 week-long celebration of 70 different Muppet characters. Each week, icons were spotlighted like Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy, fan-favorites like Pepé the King Prawn and Joe the Legal, and extreme deep cuts like Angus McGonagle the Argyle Gargoyle.

The strategy was executed almost exclusively on social, allowing Disney to meet Muppet fans where they already are. Our goal was to celebrate the breadth of 70 years of Muppet history, highlighting not only specific characters and creative projects, but Jim Henson, Frank Oz, and the Muppet Performers who bring the characters to life.

The bulk of the campaign was executed through a mix of scene lifts, video edits, custom scripted character videos, historical still photos, exclusive behind-the-scenes images, and more. Every week, the spotlight was turned onto Muppet fans with fan art prompts for each featured character. 20-40 pieces closed out a character's celebratory week before kicking off the next. In total, over 300 artists were spotlighted, helping this celebration feel both for the fans and by the fans.

The Muppets 70th campaign was unique because it allowed an opportunity for The Muppets to celebrate themselves. As the only characters within The Walt Disney Company who are able to speak in-character and in the first-person on social media, The Muppets were able to celebrate alongside their fans. This was achieved via social exclusive character Q&A sessions, in-character social copy and commentary, and our "Muppets About Muppets" custom video series, where one Muppet would opine about that week's featured character.

The results of The Muppets 70th anniversary campaign exceeded expectations from both an analytics standpoint and a fan reaction standpoint. Posts from the campaign window are now in The Muppets' top 10 most engaged with posts of all-time on Instagram. Mid-way through the campaign, we reached one million Instagram followers, which we celebrated with a custom video featuring Kermit the Frog.

Fan reactions were also spectacular throughout the campaign. Every week, the account was met with so much love for the featured characters, giving us a sense of which fan-favorite characters resonate the most. Disney was thrilled to give fans an exciting, exclusive way to show their love for The Muppets!

Late Night "Muppet Show" Capsule!

Late last night, after ABC premiered The Muppet Show, Muppets Studios and Mickey's of Glendale released a capsule of products tied to the special.

This "Most Celebrational" release consisted of shirts, a hat, pins and more!

Short sleeve shirts for both kids, men, and women:

A hoodie with a raised "Muppet Show" logo:

A Muppet Show hat, plush Kermit keychain, and Armadillo sticker. 

Ringer tee featuring Bunsen and an eyeless Beaker, and one of the more strange items - a Beaker eye stress ball:

And of course, pins featuring Kermit, Miss Piggy in a toga, Gonzo in his stunt attire, Fozzie wearing his thinking cap, Bunsen & Beaker with eyeballs, Statler & Waldorf in their balcony, and Kermit's tea cup and banjo all with a limited edition size of 750. 

If you missed out, don't feel bad, Disney dropped the link at 1AM EST. I'm pretty sure they meant to set it for 1PM by accident.

As of this post the pins and some of the larger size shirts are sold out but there is still many other items available using this link.  

New Mickey's of Glendale Exclusive D23 Muppets Studio Merch!

Disney is beginning to unveil the exclusives that will be available at Destination D23 which includes a selection of Muppet Studio items. 

According to the official Disney Parks Blog, in celebration of the  #TheMuppets70 campaign,  Mickey’s of Glendale will have "not one, but three exclusive Muppets-themed drops."

Inspired by the first 35 characters spotlighted in the anniversary campaign, this nostalgic collection features cozy apparel and fun home goods.

Much of the merchandise was designed by Producer for The Muppets Studio, Dani Iglesias.

Disney Parks Blog, asked Dani about the collection: 

“If you had told me as a kid that someday I’d be designing for The Muppets, I’d never have believed you,” Dani said. “My design process is all about keeping one foot in the past and one foot in the future — honoring the history of these beloved characters but also allowing the franchise to evolve.”

And when asked which item she’s most excited about?

“There’s a stunning sweatshirt for the 70th anniversary that we’ve been working on for almost a year,” she said. “It’s got over a dozen characters in the Muppet Show-style arches. It’s so soft and cozy — it’s definitely going in my closet!”

Watch “World of Color Happiness” Muppet Pre-Show!

As we first told you about in March, The Muppets are opening the new "World of Color Happiness” water show at Disneyland.

While the show officially opens Friday night, last night the park offered a special sneak peek to select members of the media. 

The pre-show is a fun way to explain the safety precautions as only The Muppets can. 

You can watch the entire Muppet pre-show below, courtesy of MouseSteps (who had a great vantage point) as well as the whole "World of Color Happiness” presentation via Daps Magic.

The main show opens with a montage inspirational Disney songs including a Muppetational tune about rainbows. 

 "World of Color Happiness” officially opens at Disney's California Adventure on Friday. 

Alex Ross 'The Muppet Show'' Limited Edition Wrapped Canvas!

Acclaimed comic book writer and artist Alex Ross created a new painting featuring the cast of The Muppet Show. 

Appropriately titled "The Muppet Show," "the colorful cast of The Muppet Show take the spotlight in this vibrant work by Alex Ross. Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie, and Animal are among the popular characters featured in this limited edition print on canvas that comes gallery wrapped and ready to hang in your home."

The Limited Edition canvas of 1,500 includes a Certificate of Authenticity and measures 
10'' H x 19'' W.

Ross previously painted Super Grover for the Palisades action figure's box.
