"Sesame Street" wins 4 Children’s & Family Emmy Awards!

The 4th annual Children and Family Emmy Awards were held Monday night with Sesame Street fittingly taking home 4 awards. 


For the first time, the ceremony was held in New York City at Jazz at Lincoln Center. John Tartaglia of Sesame Street, Johnny and Sprites, and Fraggle Rock fame hosted the show while Sesame performers Frankie Cordero, Stephanie D’Abruzzo, and Jen Barnhart presented. 


Sesame Street won:

Outstanding Preschool, Children’s or Family Viewing Series

Outstanding Short Form Live Action Program: Andrew Garfield and Elmo Explain Grief, Sesame Workshop YouTube Channel

Outstanding Directing for a Live Action Series“A Trip to the Moon"

Outstanding Puppetry Performer: 
Leslie Carrara-Rudolph as Abby Cadabby & Tango






In addition to these awards, a few long-time Henson-related contributors to family entertainment were inducted into the Academy’s Gold and Silver Circles.


Michael K. Frith was honored into the Gold Circle, while Alan Muroka and Rosemarie Truglio (Senior Vice President of Global Education at Sesame Workshop) were inducted into the Silver Circle.

Muppets Mayhem and More Win Kidscreen Awards!

Last night, winners of the this year's Kidscreen Awards were announced with The Muppets Mayhem, Sesame Street, and Helpsters taking home trophies.


The Muppets Mayhem took home three awards - Best New Series and Best Live-Action Series in Kids Programming, as well as a Creative Talent Award for Best Music.

Sesame Workshop's Helpsters won Best Live-Action Series beating their other nominated program Sesame Street

Former Sesame Street cast member Sonia Manzano's series Alma’s Way won Best Inclusivity
also beating Sesame Street in that category. 

Sesame Street did win for Best Holiday or Special Episode "Grandparents' Day", Best Podcast "Good Night, World!", and best DIGITAL—PRESCHOOL Best Web/App Series—Branded "Tamir on the Street" and Best YouTube Channel

Fraggle Rock: Night of the Lights Wins DGC Awards!

Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock "Night of the Lights" won two Directors Guild of Canada awards over the weekend. 


The special won Best Sound Editing – Comedy or Family Series: 
John Douglas Smith, Kayla Stewart, Kevin Banks, Paul Talbott, Kelly McGahey, Taylor Brockelsby.



And tied for of Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Family Series:
Jonathan Rosenbaum

Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio Wins Best Animated Feature Oscar!

After wining a slew of awards and accolades the last few months, Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio took home the Oscar for Best Animated Feature at last night's 95th Academy Awards. 


This marks the Henson Company's very first Oscar after being nominated in 1966 for Time Piece and 1979 for "The Rainbow Connection." While Disney / The Muppets won Best Song for "Man or Muppet" on 2011, the Henson Company didn't have any involvement.

Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio Wins Annie Award's Best Feature and More!

Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio won big at the Annie Awards last weekend.


The Henson produced stop-motion film won for best Best Character Animation, Feature (Tucker Barrie), Best Music, Feature (Alexandre Desplat, Roeban Katz, Guillermo del Toro, Patrick McHale), Best Production Design, Feature (Curt Enderle, Guy Davis), Best Direction, and the top prize Best Feature (Guillermo del Toro, Mark Gustafson).


This is in addition to the multiple awards the film has already won including the Critics Choice Award for Best Animated Feature, Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature, Motion Picture Sound Editors Golden Reel Awards for Sound Editing for a Feature Animation,
Producers Guild Awards for 
Animated Theatrical Motion Picture, Hollywood Critics Association Best Animated Film,  Art Directors Guild Outstanding Animated Film, Visual Effects Society Outstanding Visual Effects in an Animated Feature, the Society of Composers and Lyricists Awards for Outstanding Original Song  “Ciao Papa”, and BAFTA's for Original ScoreProduction Design, and Best Animated Feature.

All this makes Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio a shoo-in for Best Animated Feature at this years Academy Awards which be the Henson's Company's first Oscar.

del Toro’s Pinocchio Wins Best Animated Feature Golden Globe!

"Guillermodel Toro’s Pinocchio" won the Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature last night.


The Henson Company production has already won over 15 awards from critic' groups
including the Art Directors Guild.

The movie is also nominated at the Critics Choice Awards, which takes place on Sunday, Jan. 15 and will almost certainly be nominated for a best animated feature Oscar.

Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock Wins Sentential Award!

In addition to being nominated for two Directors Guild of Canada AwardsFraggle Rock: Back To The Rock has also already won a Sentential Award. 


The Fraggle Rock reboot won the Children’s Programming category for episode 107, “Flight of the Flutterflies”, written by Charley Feldman and directed by Jordan Canning. 

In this episode "Jamdolin and the Troubadours visit the Rock for New Day's Day. Boober wrestles with his anxiety when he finds himself at the center of the action."

Fraggle Rock: Back To The Rock Nominated for Two DCG Awards!

Fraggle Rock: Back To The Rock has been nominated for two Directors Guild of Canada Awards.

And the nominations are: 


Outstanding Directorial Achievement, Family Series:
J.J. Johnson, Episode 102 "Red and the Big Jump"



Best Sound Editing, Comedy or Family Series:
John Douglas Smith, Kayla Stewart, Paul Talbott, Kelly McGahey, Taylor Brockelsby, Kevin Banks – Episode 112, Into the Trash

Muppets Haunted Mansion Wins Producers Guild Award!

While the official Producers Guild of America awards will be held this Saturday, March 19th a few awards were announced last night, and Muppets Haunted Mansion won for Outstanding Children’s Program.


Competition in the category included Sesame Street's "See Us Coming Together" special and Netflix's Waffles + Mochi.

Congrats to the team behind Muppets Haunted Mansion for scarring up this award.

Muppets Haunted Mansion & See Us Coming Together Nominated for Producer's Guild Award!

Two recent Muppet productions will battle it out for a Producer's Guild of America's Award.



Both Muppets Haunted Mansion and Sesame Street's See Us Coming Together have been nominated for Outstanding Children's Program.



Other nominees in this category include, season 2 of 
Animaniacs, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses, and Waffles + Mochi.

The ceremony was to take place February 26, but was postponed amid a surge in COVID-19 infections. 

We'll keep you posted when the winners are announced.

‘Muppet Babies’ Nominated for Humanitas Prize!

The recent Muppet Babies episode on inclusion has been nominated for a Humanitas Prize.

The Humanitas Prize is a recognition that honors writers “whose work inspires compassion, hope and understanding in the human family.”

Only the third episode in the series, “You Say Potato, I Say Best Friend," written by Laura Sreebny, is nominated in the Children’s Teleplay category along with episodes of Alexa & Katie, Surf and/or Turf, My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, and Z-O-M-B-I-E-S

The Humanitas Prizes will be handed out tonight at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles.

Sesame Street Will Chace Another Emmy!

We all know Sesame Street get nominated, and wins, plenty of daytime Emmys, but this year they've been nominated again for a primetime special!


You may recall that Sesame Street won a primetime Emmy l
ast year for their HBO special Once Upon a Sesame Street Christmas, and this year their latest special, The Magical Wand Chase, is nominated as well.

The Sesame gang is nominated in the “Outstanding Children’s Program” category where, they're up 
against Alexa & Katie, Fuller HouseA Series of Unfortunate Events, and Star Wars: Rebels.


The Emmy Awards will be held on September 17th on NBC.

"The Muppets" Wins Art Directors Guild Award!

"The Muppets" won an Art Directors Guild Award in the category Half Hour Single-Camera Television Series last night. 



The Production Design team won for the episode "The Ex-Factor," and their completion was "The Last Man on Earth", "Transparent" and "Veep".




The team includes Production Designer: Denise Pizzini, Set Director: Don Diers, Graphic Designer: Geoffrey Mandel, Asst. Art Director: Claudie Roque, Set Designer: Kenneth Larson and Graphic Designer: Marissa Zajack.

ABC's The Muppets wins award before premier!

The Critics' Choice Awards were announced Tuesday and ABC's The Muppets along with seven other new shows made the shortlist of "Most Exciting New Series."

FX's American Crime Story, NBC's Aquarius and Blindspot, Fox's Scream Queens and Minority Report, CBS' Supergirl and Lifetime's Unreal were also all honored as the series the Broadcast Television Journalists Association are most looking forward to. 

And that's it. No envelope. No split screen of nominees. No acceptance speech. None of that. This award is the epitome of it's an honor to be nominated. 

That makes The Muppets (along with those other shows) an award winning show before the first episode even premieres!


The Critics' Choice Awards will air live on A&E Sunday, May 31 at 8:00pm ET/5:00pm PT. Let's hope The Muppets  make an appearance!
