The Muppets Take Mahoning 4: Christmas In July-ish!

Oh come all ye Muppet faithful, to the little town of Lehighton, Pa as once again The Muppets Take Mahoning!

On Saturday, August 1st, let your bells jingle at The Mahoning Drive-In Theater. In association with THE BARRETTA BROTHERS VODCAST PODCAST, we proudly present MUPPETS TAKE MAHONING 4! It’s a special “Christmas In July-ish” celebration of fleece, foam and fandom with Jim Henson and The Muppets on 35mm!

Join us for themed Muppet vendors (including us), costume contests, a Muppet sing-along at intermission, and a variety show that puts YOU in the spotlight before sundown (sign-ups coming soon)!

The sun may set on the lot, but it never sets on the fun, as our projectors fire up to present the marvelously merry, the magnificently memorable, THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL (1992), our fine felty friends’ take on the Dickens holiday classic, with Michael Caine as Scrooge, directed by Brian Henson, and featuring songs written by Paul Williams!

We follow that up with a super-secret second feature, holiday-themed and filled with fuzzy friends, presented digitally.

So break out your puppet pals, practice your public performance pieces, and get ready to get warm and fuzzy with Kermit, Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo and the gang, when we celebrate Christmas in July…ish with the Muppets and the Barretta Brothers Vodcast Podcast!

The double feature this year was "The Muppets Take Manhattan" and "Muppet Treasure Island" and we welcomed special guest Muppet Stunt Coordinator, Fred Buchholz who brough many props and cast and crew gifts to show the attendees.

The Barretta Brothers also hosted a live vodcast with Bill Barretta and Kevin Clash judging the costume contest, and DJ Benzilla spinning Muppet tunes throughout the preshow activities. Grab your popcorn, your Muppet-loving crew, and join me for a night of cinematic fun at the Mahoning Drive-In—where the Muppets take center stage, and The Muppets, once again, Take The Mahoning!

It’s a Muppet Trifecta! We’re back for our third year with one special night of Muppet Madness!!!

On May 3rd, The Mahoning Drive-In Theater, in association with THE BARRETTA BROTHERS VODCAST/PODCAST, is proud to present MUPPETS TAKE MAHONING 3! A double feature of fleece, foam, and fandom with The Muppets on 35mm!

This year we're bringing you more Muppet vendors with even more rare treasures!

In just one evening, you can take a trip to the Big Apple to see a Broadway show and ride the high seas on the Hispaniola with Long John Silver!

SPECIAL GUEST UPDATE:

Meet our special guest, Emmy-Winner Fred Buccholz: Technical and Special effects artist, character rigging designer, and puppet stunt coordinator on countless Henson/Muppet/Sesame projects, including our double-feature.

Bring your questions for our live Q&A and find out what it was like working alongside Jim Henson, Miss Piggy, and so many others. He will also bring along some cool movie props and behind the scenes photos!

Here he is on the sets of Muppet Treasure Island with Director Brian Henson and Muppet Vision 3D with Director Jim Henson.

We open with THE MUPPETS TAKE MANHATTAN, directed by Frank Oz. The third film of the original Muppet film trilogy.

We follow the Muppets as they take their theatrical production of Manhattan Melodies to New York City with their hearts set on a Broadway premiere! What are the chances, after a cranky Kermit causes the gang to go their separate ways? Will they be Together Again? Come and see! The Muppets Take Manhattan also features more 80’s celebrities than a full season of Hollywood Squares.

Followed by MUPPET TREASURE ISLAND, directed by Brian Henson.
We are convinced. If Robert Louis Stevenson had written his classic tale in the 1990s, this is what he would have wanted! With Tim Curry and Kevin Bishop in mind for the lead roles! Hop on the Hispaniola and sail with us, sing with us, and laugh with us. Follow your favorite Muppets, along with several new characters, as they reinterpret this classic treasure hunt that is equally silly and touching.

Mayhem with The Barretta Bros!

Last night The Barretta Bros had a chat with the creators of the upcoming Electric Mayhem series, The Muppets Mayhem.

While they couldn't divulge to much information some notable takeaways include:

The 10 episode season (they didn't call it a series, so there might be room for more) will be  approx. 20-30min each and all tie together creating essentially a "5 hour movie."

Since the season is being completely written before shooting begins, the creators promise Easter eggs, gags, and other moments that will pay off later, and the show wll be ripe for repeat viewings.

The show's plot revolves around The Electric Mayhem putting out their first album and the creators intend to release one with the release of the show. 

The plan for the album is to have covers of classic songs as well as originals - the writers of which yet to be announced. 

They also plan to have celebrity musical guests. The fan favorites in the chat included Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and Weird Al. 

While I agree those are excellent suggestions, I think not having Dave Matthews Band jam with the Electric Mayhem would a severely missed opportunity., as DMB are basically the EM's human equivalent.
